Some micro-observations:
Team Rebounding has improved so much from last season. Hope we can sustain this. Corliss, is this your handiwork?
- Champagnie has doubled his rebounding numbers from last season. 6.4
- Castle is at 6 rebounds, Kornet 8.0, Harper/KJ/Vassell in the 5-6 vicinity
- Wemby with a league-leading 14.6
- 3rd in league
Assists are well-dispersed with 7 players averaging 2 or more. Much better ball-movement than last season. I think there's still room to grow here.
Spurs are getting better looks as a result. We are 4th in the league in FG%. That's unreal after the shitshow of the past few seasons. We're learning to maximize the attention that Wemby receives, finally.
Defensively, Sweeney has upgraded the schemes to maximize our talents around DPOY Wemby. That's a beautiful thing to see. We've been in the 1-3 range in this minuscule sampling.
I really like what I've seen from Mitch so far. Pulling Harper for not attacking in the 4th qtr against Miami is totally the right reason. I feel like he really knows his personnel and will be able to push the right buttons. Is there a rookie coach's wall?
