Your all time disliked 10 Spurs players

Definitely one of my most disliked NBA players of all time, so I was a little surprised how much I tolerated him as a Spur.
There was a time the Spurs dabbled with signing Karl Malone. I think I stated on ST that I would stop rooting for the team if he was on it. If not for Victor I might have done that for Crissy.
Bonner hardly ever played. Turkoglu was counted on for more.
Shitting the bed against the Lakers will make fans hate you.

I have erased the details from the 2004 Laker series from my mind for the most part. It was necessary.

Red Mamba did good during the 2014 OKC series and somehow able to neutralize Ibaka :st-lol:

Malik Rose did good during the 2003 playoff title run.

Both contributed to a title and that is good enough
No sir, I wont buy that.

Bonner was god damned cancer and we lost in 04 because Malik sucked dick, moreso than Fish's bogus .4 bullshit.

Both of them were HUGE reasons we never went B2B.

Fuck 'em both.

Wont lie tho, Malik's brother's philly cheese steak truck is fucking bomb. I was back home in 23 for 6 months and I frequented the spot because it was three blocks from my plug.

3. Josh Primo - never saw the hype in him especially now that we have real guard talent like Harper and Castle. He was the prime example of how awful the post Kawhi era was for a while.
Always thought he was the prime example of Pop going senile with how he adored Primo and thought he would be a franchise building block. Love Pop and hate that it took a stroke to get him to realize he was no longer fit to coach the team but don't miss his ineptitude that had come on. Seems like it was all downhill once he started going soft on Aldridge.

We lost in 04 because Phil Jackson finally pulled his head out of his ass, and decide to go UNDER Parker pick and rolls, and make him shoot. That wrinkle in their defense directly led to the back door sweep and the hiring of Chip England to keep it from ever happening again. Three years later, Parker wasFMVP.

Pop wouldn't have drafted TP if not for Presti lobbying hard and making montages of him.
Pop wouldn't have trusted Manu if not for the whole roster lobbying and Manu shutting his mouth so often.

Pop for all his skills has never been a good a identifying talents and all those draft based on potential are often a symptom of PATFO's ego, thinking THEY have the power to make a player become elite. Primo or Sochan being perfect examples.

Kawhi Leonard

It's mostly just him. But there are certainly a number of others I'm not a huge fan of.

Josh Primo
Richard Jefferson
Beno Udrih
Lonnie Walker
Dennis Rodman

Additionally, on Offense Phildo did listen to Gary Payton and abandoned their triangle and went with their own pic n roll. Shaq and Payton were conttecting big time.
That wizard coach of the Spurs made zero adjustment.

Then Pop did trust Manu while he had an 8 turnover game and was soo obviously off kilter in 2013 Gm 6 disaster. So obviously needed benching / a readjustment.
Thanks for robbing Timmy Duncs of an undefeated career Finals record and Finals MVP even with the biased media.

Ok back to good things happening now.

There's a long list tbh ^^

I recall vividly how mad I was at him in 2011 after MEM elimination bc he refused all season to let TP close from time to time and only relied on Manu... who broke his elbow a cple games before the end of RS.

Pop's ego and stubbornness have been costly and still a taboo topic for most fans.

It’s weird how all of the nba and Spurs players not named Stephen Jackson never think things like this but people on the outside on the internet think it’s some weird taboo topic.

I don't see how it's relevant...

I'm not saying Pop is a bad person, just that being a great coach doesn't mean being the best at identifying talents. Plenty of examples in many sports.

Being stubborn and having an ego can bring a lot of good things as he's shown but also some darker sides.

Unless everyone is either perfect or sucks to you, there's nothing wrong at pointing out some negative aspects of a coach who was in place for +20 years

You don't see how you making an uninformed judgement about Pop's decxision making is less relevant than the judgement of hte people who were actually on the team?

Well ok, then I can't help you.

Pop had plenty of short comings. Pop was downright atrocious his last 3-4 years in the league. Pop made some pretty dumb decisions with specific players. Pop defend Kawhi too damn much and was stupid for being critical of fans booing him. But that's not what you're talking about. You're talking about something you can't possibly know and referencing the decision making to his ego when the actual player involved LOVES Pop and has never made any indication that was the case.

I love Pop. You missed the point.

I'm not saying you don't love, Pop, my guy. YOU are missing the point. Let me put it to you another way, How do you know it was because of his ego? Make the case.

Beno was just born 10 years too soon. In the pace and space era, he’d be a weapon. The very thing Pop hated, PUJITs, is what drives offenses now.
