Your all time disliked 10 Spurs players

I dont dislike Rod Strickland enough to put him on this list, but that overhead out of bounds pass against Portland in the playoffs was one of the most infamous Spurs moments. I honestly think it impacted his whole career, though, in my view still one of the best handles I’ve ever seen.

Also, what ever happened to Willie Anderson?
He had major leg issues, requiring steel rods implanted as his shins just so that he can walk and run. The dude is a trouper, nothing but respect.

He was quite athletic, one of the early tall SGs.

Not sure where the Jefferson hate is coming from tbh... I mean I don't hate players because they played badly for the Spurs, I have nothing against Bogans for instance... blame is on the FO who put them there or better insist in playing them too much. You cannot be right 100% of the time on a trade or a pick but you should be held accountable on not dealing with the issue soon enough.

I surely dislike players who did the Spurs wrong and I can think of just 2 players who can fuck themselves...

1 and by far Nephew and 2 Jax who has been a massive pos after his second time

Honorable Mentions for Brent Barry who could not keep his wife on check... smh

Dennis Rodman- The way he sabotaged the Spurs during the 95 WCF was disgraceful and his constants slander about David Robinson is pathetic.

Stephen Jackson- His constant lies and slander about the Spurs during the Kawhi Feud was disgraceful and pathetic. He's also delusional and can't admit he was washed up during his last year with the Spurs and instead likes to blame them for destroying his value as a player and ending his career.

Robert Horry- I'm thankful for his game 5 shot in '05 Finals but to me he was always a mercenary. He's proven to be a mercenary how he always ranks Tim below Shaq, Hakeem, Kobe. He's also a snake in the grass because I remember how much he talked about how toxic the Lakers locker room was when he played with the Spurs and now he has revisionist history and lies about how great the locker room atmosphere was. I get why he says that garbage since he works for the Lakers but I still see the fakeness of it.

Bryn Forbes- This guy was insufferable to watch in the sense that he was a midget traffic cone on defense that teams would always constantly abuse him.

Devin Vassell- This guy is like poor mans Kobe with his chucking tendencies.

Kawhi Leonard- My most hated Spur of all time. The way he brought the Spurs into a terrible feud that got the attention of the national media was infuriating. He caused a lot of PR damage for the Spurs I felt that took years to repair along with setting the franchise back by a decade or more by intentionally sabotaging his value so they couldn't get good trade assets in return. Also he is responsible for this horrible load management epidemic we have in the current NBA.

Demar Derozan- He seems like a good guy but I hated watching him play and seeing him pout all the time on the court. He is the definition of empty stat player. On paper his stats look good but they don't translate to wins.

Hedo (responsible for Manu coming off the bench)
Beno
Nando
Dick Jefferson

I don't count pre or post championship era players 'cause I was just happy we had one pro team in SA.

I maybe also understood wrongly the OP tbh... if it is disliked not the person but the players or better their play then I don't put in there Nephew... cannot hate the player but hate the person which are two different things.

So my list for worst players would be in no particular order:

Bogans
Rodman
Negro
Anderson (duh)
Smith
Udoka
Butler
Hughes
Masons
Forbes

with a clear top 2... Bogans and Masons... oh god I had allergy just watching them on the active players list

Bryn Forbes
Stephen Jackson 2.0
Bryn Forbes
Kawhi Leonard
Bryn Forbes
Richard Jefferson
Bryn Forbes
Luka Samanic
Bryn Forbes
Marcus Morris Sr (my list, I'll count him anyway)

CP3 didn’t end Bowen’s streak, it was that crying little bitch from Seattle, Ray Allen.
Wrong. It was Paul. Ray faked a limp like a fag, but nobody paid attention.

Boy, the evolution of the feelings on Primo is strong here :st-lol:

I remember posting in the good ol' days of spurstalk about how Primo's gleague impact stats weren't very good, and there was a deluge of criticism assigning me the dreaded label of naysayer and lecturing anyone that wasn't 100% pro-Primo on how he he was the youngest player in the draft and how no reasonable assessments could possibly be made about him until his third season, at the earliest! He was an 18 yr old James Harden for god's sake, but posers and casuals just couldn't see it.

For the record, my least favorite Spur was Chris Paul. I never liked him before he was a Spur and I wasn't going to change my mind after.

It's because of Kawhi that we have Wemby. I actually don't have an ounce of hate for him. Uncle Dennis though, that's another story.

Kawhi Leonard
Sidney Green
Richard Jefferson (although I like him as an announcer)
Bryn Forbes
Avery Johnson
Charles Smith
Zach Collins
Chris Paul (begrudgingly respect him for last year, but can't let go of the rest of his career)
George Karl (asshole to me when I was a little kid at Spurs camp. Complete dick.)
Frank Brickowski

1. Nephew
2. Rodman
3. Primo
4. Richard Jefferson
5. Drew Gooden
6. Jeff Ayres
7. Nick Van Exel
8. Hedo Turkoglu

Now I got to know. What did George Karl do?

He beaned me in the head with a basketball when I wasn't paying attention to him. He was trying to teach some boring ass drill that I had done 1000 times before and I was watching some scrimmage action at the other end of the gym instead of listening to him. Trust me George, I know how to run the three man weave. Asshole reared back and nailed me in the head so hard I saw stars. I can't imagine if something like that happened today. I couldn't have been 8 years old.

Coincidentally, that's exactly how he'd get Shawn Kemp's attention back every time some hot chick walked by.

I'm surprised so much Turkoglu hate exists. He had a solid season for us playing out of position as a spot up shooter. I know he disappeared in the playoffs, but Bonner did that every year for years and didn't make a single list here.

I always wondered what could have been if Pop changed up the offense a bit to have Turkoglu as a point forward creating more of the offense.

I don’t dislike a lot of Spurs players when they were Spurs. I have a few:

Ungrateful Kawhi - The ultimate douchebag

Josh Primo - Top pick wasted because he couldn’t keep it to himself

Aldridge - I always coveted Aldridge as a true nightmare on the post and was ecstatic that he picked the Spurs. But his timid and lack of aggressiveness at the 2017 WCF left a bitter taste. He’s not my most hateful but maybe Spurs got him 2-3 years late

Jeremy Sochan - His constant indecisiveness is making me want to throw my tv set. He’s like a black hole out there where the ball stops. He would rim run fast just to stop and pass for a halfcourt offense. Maybe it’s the hype and under delivering with 2022 batch, wasted years of development. I’m still rooting for him but for now he’s a big waste of top pick

Dejounte Instagram Player - Airing his grievances after getting traded to his preferred destination. I appreciate the hard work in becoming a better player, but he’s overhyped especially in contrast with Derrick who was imo the better overall player yet remained humble. DJ squabbles and talking back to Pop at the bench was the start of me disliking him, especially since Pop seemed to have favored him. DJ seems just a little less version of Kawhi’s

Robert Horry - While I appreciate those big games, to me Horry was just a mercenary who never embraced the Spurs. The way he puts Timmy below Hakeem, Kobe and Shaq is a big disrespect. Big Shot Rob is just Forrest Gump Horry to me, being in the right place at the right time.

Captain Jack - The way he disses Spurs to sell airtime. Sure he was instrumental in early championship years bringing toughness, but just be thankful you were part of a great team. And yes Manu was miles better than you.

Jakob Poeltl - Many ST posters put him top 10 center. I hated his being soft, guys lined up to dunk on him. I just think he could’ve put more fight. I always thought if only he had Drew Eubanks heart

These are the players I like to hate for what they did, or didn’t do as a player. I always like Spurs players because PATFO seem to always pick the right characters. But some fell on the crack…

demar derozan
lamarcus aldridge
richard jefferson
gary neal
davis bertans
Zach collins
brent barry
derrick white
devin vassell

All on-court stuff, any combination of soft, useless, choker etc

Updating with some info (in order). Reminder that I've only been following the Spurs since the early 2000s.

1. Kawhi Leonard - yeah obvious choice. Still loved his time here but he sabotaged the Spurs. Will go down as the best player hated by Spurs fans.
2. Stephen Jackson - kinda like Leonard where I liked him before his exit (the 2nd time). His Spurs hate is so desperate and attention-seeking.
3. Josh Primo - never saw the hype in him especially now that we have real guard talent like Harper and Castle. He was the prime example of how awful the post Kawhi era was for a while.
4. Bryn Forbes - I hated that we had to go from Danny Green to him. I hated his pouting every time he got burned on defense. I hated his 3 point shot celebrations.
5. Zach Collins - 3 point specialist that couldn't hit 3's. "Enforcer" role but never intimidated any big that he was guarding. Flipping off the refs to get ejected. Punchable looking face. Overpaid. Glad he's gone.
6. Richard Jefferson - the Spurs player, not the person. Very likable dude in real life. But he was hated during his time on the Spurs for a reason. He was one of the biggest trade pickups for us at the time. He turned out to not be a good fit in our offense but I hated how passive he was and we had to start him all the time because of his contract. Oh well at least he got his ring in Cleveland.
7. Luka Samanic - Didn't have a good attitude and quit on a play his last game of his Spurs career. Had the tools to be something special which made it more frustrating.
8. Trey Lyles - Another player that was a reflection of our tanking times. He was such a downgrade from getting Marcus Morris and didn't last long with us and got waived.
9. Kevin Martin - A player we got too late into his career that he basically was useless. Rasual Butler was a better player and we waived him for that scrub.
10. Michael Finley - He was a key part of our 2007 title but Pop had a strange obsession with playing him so many minutes and over guys like Bruce Bowen. I hated him so much in 2009 and 2010.

Honorable mentions:
Jeff Ayres (one of the worst players ever)
DeMarre Carroll (didn't bring him over for cheap and he was pretty awful)
DeJounte Murray (too emotional but I still liked his time on the Spurs)
DeJuan Blair (the "circling the Spurs on my calendar" and petty vendetta he had for us after we didn't bring him back was lame but he's also a player I enjoyed at least his rookie year)

4. Bryn Forbes - I hated that we had to go from Danny Green to him. I hated his pouting every time he got burned on defense. I hated his 3 point shot celebrations.
This. That stupid "I almost had him" hand clap every... single... time he got burned. Then other players started to pick it up.
