We're Chipping This Year

There’s just something about this crew. Castle and Wemby are an unstoppable defensive duo. I can sense it yall. We’re just too deep, too strong, too long, too damn good! Pop’s system never left.
It did left. It looks like you already forget 2018-2019 to 2023-2024 season. Especially the defrozen era to dejounte murray era.lmao

The Spurs splits by 3 pt% for the season:

Over 40% 18-0
Over 35% 28-5
Under 35% 14-11

Everything else is pretty much locked in so the team goes as their 3s go. If this team gets hot from 3 for the playoffs they can run through anyone. Of course the opposite is true as a cold shooting Spurs team is a barely above .500 team in the regular season. This and health/availability are where the playoff rubber will meet the road.

I'm starting to believe tbh. We have a legit chance if luck breaks our way which is definitely possible. Not scared of any of the potential EC champs. Spurs have as good as a shot to get out of the West as OKC imo

Think we'd be decently big underdogs in a series against OKC (especially if they end up with HCA)...but aside from them it's now seeming like we'd be at least 50/50 toss-ups (and likely favorites) against anyone else.

Don't fully trust this team still but it's not like pretty much every other team hasn't shown some pretty noticeable flaws as well. If we're mostly healthy and Wemby is playing anywhere close to his best then you have to feel like we have a decent shot. Exciting times!

It’s kind of scary because if we make it out of the west, the expectation will be to win the NBA championship against whomever in the east. But so much has to go right

with the current standings, I believe that the Spurs can go to the finals. Portland in the 1st round should be okay, I think that we beat Houston. Then, OKC will depend on the level of fatigue. I could see a first round exit against Golden State. I also really want to avoid Minnesota.

This team just reminds me of the 2003 team in terms of inconsistency, if we catch fire and go on a heater for a couple of weeks we can ring, but then if we go cold and do stupid crap we’d be losing to the jazz. I know it’s a cop out but I just can’t tell if Jerkyll or Hyde will show up.

Man, it’s getting kind of hard to deny this team at this point…we have our flaws but with a healthy squad we have as good of a shot as anyone outside of OKC.

Still feels surreal. I knew we had an outside chance to drastically outperform expectations this year but I did not see this coming.

At this point it’s hard to see us not winning at least one playoff series. I think loss in the WCF is the most likely outcome which would’ve sounded crazy a few months ago. I do not think winning it all is some wildly unrealistic outcome at those point.

From missing the playoffs for 5+years to Chipping?

Lakers did it in the Bubble. But they already had LBJ who was injured the year before, and added AD in the offseason. This team also had a really good supporting cast.

Spurs kinda have the same template with Wemby's injury keeping us out of play-in, at least. And adding Fox who only played a handful of games before being shutdown himself. It's possible but Wemby, Castle & Harper would have to make multiple in-season leaps in their game. And they have to stay healthy, obviously.

The disney bubble doesn't count.

Team needs to stay humble and keep working. We obviously have flaws. And OKC they are one hell of a squad. And they keep winning and winning and winning. Sure we match up well with them but in the playoffs it’s gonna be a very difficult series. Especially since the referees give them every call. SGA at the foul line incessantly every goddamn game. But that’s a discussion for another time.

I will say it again. We are sure chipping as long as the 3s are falling tbh. :vic-cheers:

I’m not from town but I’m strongly considering going to a game if they make it to the WCF or the Finals. Anyone else doing the same?

Hope you're rich. Shit is gonna be ridiculously expensive. Probably several hundred per ticket

Yeah I'm in the same situation. It feels like we've entered the territory where seeing Wemby in person at least once should be a bucket list item for any Spurs fan. I'm not rich by any means but I'm willing to drop pretty good money at least once.

oh man, I think it’s going to be even more than that. $300 was for a regular season game I went to last year

I was thinking $500 or so to get in the door. Just not worth it to me to do that, especially when the US economy is crumbling and there's a war causing energy price explosion. I went to plenty of WCF and NBA finals games in the Duncan era for less than $200 per ticket so that is probably gonna be it for me. These prices are way too insane and HDTV is way too nice

ill catch a game in LA if they face the lakers/clippers

ill go to SA if they make the finals

Definitely going to catch at least one (probably both/potentially 3) games in Denver if we end up playing them in round 2. Going to the game next Saturday and tickets were $300ish for still-not-great lower bowl seats…bracing myself for playoff prices :st-lol:

Games 1 and 2 of the 2014 WCF were two of the best experiences I’ve ever had for sporting events. Couldn’t recommend enough catching a playoff game in person if you can swing it.

Those prices will price out many in San Antonio.
