We're Chipping This Year

From missing the playoffs for 5+years to Chipping?

Lakers did it in the Bubble. But they already had LBJ who was injured the year before, and added AD in the offseason. This team also had a really good supporting cast.

Spurs kinda have the same template with Wemby's injury keeping us out of play-in, at least. And adding Fox who only played a handful of games before being shutdown himself. It's possible but Wemby, Castle & Harper would have to make multiple in-season leaps in their game. And they have to stay healthy, obviously.

Why not give ourselves the vision and belief, even if the odds are slim? 🙏

Somebody will probably break his leg against the Wizards after such a bullshit take

The odds are always slim.

No reason they can't do it if they lock in defensively by the playoffs and avoid big shooting slumps. Still gotta see Victor play extended, like 40 games, without missing more than a single game at a time for rest. I like that Mitch is limiting his minutes right now. I'd keep doing that as long as the team is winning.

For reference, OKC went from 24 to 40 to 57 wins and a 2nd round exit.
I think it's safe to say our last season should've been the 40 win one, we were on pace for it even before the Fox trade, but then disaster struck.

Right now we're on 61 win pace despite all the injuries we had. I think it's realistic to expect a 55+ wins season if everyone can stay healthy.

This team is real deep. As long as everyone is healthy and not more than 2 players are in slump, I take our chances over anyone.

And as long as OKC/LAL Refs don't fuck with us

I'd be happy with just winning one playoff series this year. Anything more than that would be a very pleasant surprise.

Absolutely the effort should be made.
We have the MVP, whether Vic wins the phony media award or not.
Healthy Wemby is paramount.
Shooting slumps other then short one's i agree is a no no.
Kills me to say this but refs are often a factor. Timmy Dunks was absolutely robbed in 2012.

Let's win one playoff series first eh lol

Our future is def bright. Other than KD/Russ/Harden (which they fumbled), what other team in history has managed to get a better draft outcome 3 years in a row? Wemby Castle Harper is looking absolutely minted if Wemby can stay healthy.

The win/loss record says we’re a contender.
The age and experience of our team says we’re probably not ready.
I’ll be happy with winning a first round and getting that experience, but I can’t help but think that with some luck and health we could make history

Playoffs are another matter. Young players wilt the first time or so. It's just the hearts beat faster, the sweat is colder. That's why the NBA Cup loss didn't bug me -- these kids got a taste of a game that matters.

Wemby has Euro playoff experience. Olynyk, Kornet will help. Castle won an NCAA championship (and was awesome at it).

The other side is who is in the league right now. Thunder have their experience and a great team. The rest of the West has very good teams but no one totally scary. Individual players are brilliant. I think the Spurs can win a playoff round or two. Winning a chip is out of range right now, but I'm not concerned. They're way better than I thought, and I thought they could be a 50 win team. The vast difference is that they are very good even without Wemby, and they still are figuring out how to integrate him into the offense. It's wild.

And I think Castle turning into arguably our second best player is really key. The guy is totally fearless, exceptionally coached in college, and is just a dog. Fox has a good clutch gene, and Harper is pretty fearless, too.

We have cake and punch in the back.

I don't see OKC falling off anytime soon. In fact I see them getting stronger. While I think they are slightly better constructed as a team right now compared to the spurs, I think they're dreading a spurs match up and deep down know they might shit the bed. This year is a strong year for the spurs if they play their cards right.
