Thunder roster vs Spurs Roster comparison

You can change opinions, what you can't do is comparing our 2nd best player to their best player and say "nothing else matters".

So the other players don't matter, our 7'6" alien don't matter, all the other aspects of basketball don't matter? It all came down to the specific matchup of our 2nd best player vs their best player. :st-lol:

You do see how that was a dumb comment from the get go, right?
Sure. If I say it's a dumb comment, will you finally shut the fuck up about it?

SGA is back to sitting out 4th quarters in blowouts and the Spurs can't seem to play consistent basketball anymore. We will be browbeaten into agreement.

I'm sure that's because SGA is twice the player Fox is and nothing else matters. :st-lol:

OKC has a roster that played a whole season together including an entire playoff run to the title. Fox and Wemby on the other hand played a combined 17 games together. Pretty logical that there will be some growing pains along the way.

Is it not? The Spurs avoided a third straight blowout because of the offensive skills of...Julian Champagnie.

To your point, the Spurs have gotten scary good way ahead of schedule. I'm trying not to be ridiculously optimistic about how good they could be after March.

Besides the fact that no, it's not, and your original post was indeed dumb -- role players being able to step up and into a larger role when needed during the regular season is very much a good thing, not something to be negative about. It's the same "great value role players" that everyone jacks OKC off for.

Quite convenient also that you didn't account for Fox's 26pts nor Wemby's 31, which were just as integral to winning the game as Champ's.

The real mismatch between OKC and SAS is on the Thunder's asset and picks trove. The Spurs have their own picks and a little surplus of them, but nowhere near the assets OKC has collected. This could / will severely benefit their ability to maintain and improve their roster moving forward, which San Antonio needs to be much more careful about, especially as they might not be "true contenders" in their current iteration yet.

But honestly, after seeing how Wemby played the Thunder, anything can happen tbh.

But the Spurs are one high end player ahead if both Castle and Harper develop, which negates a lot of that asset difference.
Wemby/Fox/Castle/Harper > SGA/Williams/Chet, especially with Chet looking like he won't ever develop into a legit all-star.

With the Spurs catching up and Wemby turning Chet into his red-headed step child, I could see a scenario where OKC goes more the "bought" team building route while the Spurs stay the homegrown "built" approach.

For example, in the scenario (and I'm not ready to predict this) where we beat them 4-1 in the regular season and playoffs, I could see them sending off Chet, picks and other assets for Giannis having realized we closed their window.

Ajay Mitchell might turn into a high end player, tbh.

Hey, remember all those things that seemed to matter before the last four games? :st-rollin:
