Analysis The Unpopular Opinions Thread on the state of the Spurs Organization and Players.

Are you still upset about the ticket sales tbh?
Did I say I was upset about that? I reported a scene from someone who was apparently close to where the business suits were sitting and i made a simple speculation about it.

It is not reactionary. It is called speaking your mind away from conventional wisdom and homerism..if you want to be "everything is fine and dandy" poster that is your prerogative and is to be respected. Almost everyone above posted a reasonably edgy take and not some loony opinion . So I'm not sure why are so intent on policing thought.
You make some reasonable points tbh. I just choose to look at the brighter side now since we cant do shit about it anyway

Cmon bruh

You jumped from Spurs lost > Suits were unhappy in a lounge > Because of lost ticket sales > BWrong not getting a bonus > Players would get cut in the offseason

:st-lol:

I just want you to save your meltdowns because there’s gonna be plenty of opportunities for that in the playoffs without having to resort to suite gossip tbh

Yea this thread is basically this entire forum already lol. This thread is just the forum wrapped up in 1 thread. Whinerhread.gov essentially

I'll start firing away myself:

- Stephon Castle is ALREADY our second best and second most important player. It doesn't reflect well on Fox-- and spare me the "he's accommodating the youngsters" talk.

- The Spurs have become Warriors-level of league darlings because of Wemby. While it is understandable because Wembanyama is in Jordan/Lebron stratosphere of megastar (not just a superstar) the excessive glazing can feel cringeworthy to other fanbases.

- The Harper situation has real 'Harden at OKC' potential. They should not allow similar thoughts to creep into his mind VERY SOON.
I mean, that's hardly an unpopular opinion around here, is it? :geek:

Here, I'll do one:
As of April 2026, Castle is about as far away from being All-NBA as Biyombo is from being a servicable NBA player.

I think Castle will be exposed in the playoffs ... he will be Caruso'ed by the opponents defense and just brick his jumpshots. Losing confidence he will drive into a cluster of defenders, turning the ball over.
His defense will be as good as ever, but he will be just unplayable on offense. And do not get me started on his FT %.

How about a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory?
When nephew fucked the Spurs over in 2018, they never asked for the league to take any legal action, despite having a case for it.
I'm sure they were aware of Clippers/Lakers/whoever else tampering, but took it on the chin without making a mess out of it.
Wemby was 14 at the time and it was already obvious he's going to be the best player of his generation.
Spurs agreed to stay silent in exchange for Wemby and prepared to have the best odds in 2023.
Castle was just regular draft luck.
The league knew about tree planting stuff before Pablo Torre went public and it would give Spurs enough ammunition to destroy nephew and the league's reputation because the league failed to protect them back then.
But the Spurs are and always will be company men, so they agreed on some more compensation in exchange for their silence.
That compensation was Harper with 7% odds.
More than a fair trade for the Spurs that don't want to be involved in any scandal/trial/process, even though they were the damaged party.

:vic-cheers:

This summer Harper will ask to start or to be traded. Spurs will then trade Fox to Houston for a package around Jabari Smith Jr.

I worry about this scenario
I've always had reservations about his shooting and thus his long term potential. I realize I'm in the minority.
To date he keeps improving and hope he proves me wrong.

We will judge Fox value after the POs tbh... Fox has been brought to the Spurs for a variety of reasons... one of them being the POs. I think Fox has coasted a bit during RS and let Castle and Harper develop nicely not being a ball hog, so far so good. Worst case would have been a ego henrique kind of player ball hogging the entire RS. There is 0 major complain on my side about Fox untill now. Come POs time, games will speed up again for the rookies and Castle this is when we will need Fox. I don't include Victor because I have no clue, normally he should struggle a bit against tighter defense, coach sending different stuff at him during the serie... but it is Victor.

Never took you for a Flat Ping Ponger tbh

Unpopular opinions are great when they are backed up.

Example of stupid unpopular opinions... the moon landing is fake.
This is basically it, thank you @brazil for this.
No issues with posting things that go against the grain, but have some backup. Stating everyone else who don't agree with you are just blind homers and I am right, then the same awful take over and over again doesn't make it a valid point, it just makes it annoying as hell and spams the entire forum down the toilet, ruining everything for everyone.

Don't tell me this scenario never crossed your mind. :D
Rigged drafts died with Stern tbh.

I also can’t believe that BWrong was salivating over a 14yo like he was on Epstein island. We are just the luckiest franchise of all time tbh

:st-lol:

I have one though.

I think OP would be happier if the Spurs flamed out early these playoffs than if they won the championship tbh.

Fox's max contract which start next year is gonna age badly and Spurs will either trade him too late or let him remain with the team until his max contract run out due to "Family Culture" and want to do right by the players.

I had an unpopular opinion last year that Castle was likely to be our second best player this year even over Fox. So glad to see the people who wanted to trade him or said he was only roty because of the weak class eat crow. Dudes a straight killer.

Yeah this should really be a baseless takes thread instead of an unpopular opinion thread
What exactly are you scoffing at in this thread that is baseless? There is a difference between an unpopular/edgy/debatable opinion and a concretized fact. Someone questioning whether Wemby is our best player that would be baseless. Folks asking to move fast on Fox, while he has some residual value, to clear the path for Harper is not without its merit or whether Castle has already surpassed him. These are not batshit takes.. They are up for debate and could be vindicated or proven wrong shortly. Does this sound baseless to you?

It was RC's doing, tbh.
Remember all the reports about him flying to Slovenia multiple times to watch Samanic?
He was actually watching Wemby, tbh.
