Not even worth explaining why an all star selection in the eastern conference back then is essentially meaningless. Same way two second (lmao) team all nba teams are. They need some east representation.

Kornet, poeltl, and diaw all got better stats after joining the spurs. Barnes stayed steady, maybe a bit better.

Conversely dejounte got worse. White got better.

Derozan was an all star before and after the spurs, led the league in 2PM after the spurs, made all nba second team twice and third team once, top 10 in mvp award share twice. 18th all time in points scored (21st when combined with aba stats), 12th all time in free throws made, has a decent chance to make the hall of fame, I’d say he’s top 150 all time all things considered. Nobody would ever call him a bum.

I kinda agree. Dude ain't a bum, he's top 20 on the all-time scoring list, closing in on Timmy. But he never landed in the right place to win a chip -- it was never gonna happen in Toronto. And although he's a walking mid-range bucket -- one of the best to ever do it I'd say -- the lack of 3 point shooting and shoddy defense kinda limit his value in the current league. He also didn't perform to his standards in the playoffs. But I still believe he could probably contribute to a winning team as an old man in a lesser role. Not on our team -- not much space for him -- but I dunno... maybe somewhere like Denver? That's an interesting thought experiment where *should* he go in an ideal world, at age 37.
