Player The restricted-age video store section of Dylan Harper

4 games is a small sample size, but Castle is at 7-16 since coming back from injury. He obviously worked on his shot while recovering.
small sample size indeed. sochan has had month long stretches of shooting at or above 40% from 3. even the full 16 game sample size from this season is too small to have strong conclusions, but his % so far is more or less the same as we saw all of last season. im also not buying that he worked on and improved his shot during a 2 week absence with a hip injury with more success and attention than he did during a healthy 5 month offseason

I'm not saying he'll be a 40% shooter right away, but as you said he's taking them with confidence.
Just think of that stepback 3 over Hachimura to ice the game in LA.

So far this season there weren't many situations with Castle left wide open on the perimeter because he's always in the paint.
Harper had more issues with that up until last night.

castle has been able to take his physicality and finishing to another level. when defenders sag off him or go under the pick and roll, he actually just uses that space as a runway a la giannis which puts the defense in a really tough spot. so teams have actually stopped going under his screens as often because he's found a way to punish that without necesarily shooting it every time. while his 3pt% is no better than last year (around 28%), his overall FG% has gone up from 43% to 50.5%. while he hasnt really fixed his weaknes, he certainly as accentuated his strengths to give him a very solid baseline

but yes, he does shoot them with confidence, and he was doing so last year as well.

Surreal how context change perceptions.

If he was playing anywhere else he'd be THE star of the team and the media darling but Spurs have Wemby, Fox and now Castle is also dropping jaws.

This kid is ridiculous at so many levels, his BBIQ is one of a veteran, he can finish right. or left hand better than anyone I can recall, he defends better than he should at his age, he's comfortable in the clutch...

WOW

I'm a Castle "stan" since day one but I think Dylan might have a higher ceiling...

And now he's an elite 3pt shooter?? wtf :ROFLMAO:

How the fuck did we luck into this kid? :st-lol:

Also, the conversations about trading Harper for the random packages people were throwing out pre-draft :st-lmao:
or the 'trade down' scenarios, those convos were hilarious :st-lol:

Harper is prime example that you should never go against the cardinal rule of NBA drafting: BPA > Fit. all day, everyday

might ? Harper has clearly the higher ceiling.
I'm not sure... yet.

Castle is special and a lot of you still has a hard time seing it. I remember being in the minority pre season to insist his future was at PG for ex. His athleticism is a constant matchup issue for opponents and his poise with the ball is special, he can control the tempo really well when I see Harper more slasher (for now)

If he can play any position I can see Harper developing a SG game with a different role than Castle more "game manager".

Both are gems, they're 1A and 1B for now

They can both be PGs and play together.
The downfall of most other PG duos was either their defense or subpar activity off the ball.

I'd say they're 2A/2B with Wemby/Fox being 1A/1B for now.
It will feel like we have too many good players in some games.

I'm glad the Spurs did not overthink on draft night and just took the Best Player Available in Harper. Kid is so impressive just plays with a poised and pace of a 10 year veteran. The way he plays I can't believe he is just a teenager lol

Was it just me or did a couple of his 3s last night had more arc than earlier season

Harper is basically a flawless player who also has tremendous differentiated ability. I can’t find anything about this guy that’s not incredible.

We may have already found our GNob and Parker.
By that i mean we've all been wanting a solid 2nd and 3rd All Star next to Wemby like Timmy Dunks had.

Can we now project them that good? Sure looking that way.

Now if we can just get the SF/PF combo guy that can do it all. Rack those 'Chips up.

I don't think there is much debate about ceiling tbh... if you compare year 1 Harper and year 1 Castle it is not even close. The fact Harper is already playing at 19 y/o like a seasonned NBA vet is crazy, his talent is off the chart, all comes easy to him and it will just get better with time. He has a feel for the game that is not commun at his age. I'm a fan of Castle don't get me wrong but Harper has a Harden with good defense potential tbh

His higher arc 3 look like a Manu's 3 tbh
