Real talk, did Duncan ever speak like that about Wemby?
:st-stirthepot:
Biggest elephant in the room of the organization: Timmy and Wemby don't have much of a relationship. It's weird because it's a big-to-big. No quotes, no practice facility interactions, no reported workouts between the two 3 years into Wemby career.

I heard Sean mention after the game what TD said about Dylan, but yeah, I don't recall Sean saying any comment towards Victor from TD. I do remember one game this season (don't remember exactly what Sean said) where Victor was running down the middle of the court straight to the rim and Sean said he needs to do that more, and then TD sent a text saying to Sean to tell him that. I'm guessing TD thinks he should be doing more of the simple stuff, and also, that might be a sign that TD thinks he should go inside more. I don't know, wild guesses based on a comment about TD and Victor not being close.

I like Wemby going to Hakeem, KG but no Timmy, at least nothing out there that we know of showing them working out one-on-one??

Vic also picked Kobe over Timmy. Although he immediately retract and say its hard and he dunno lol

Yeah, I don't know what is going on. He'd learn a lot from TD. I wonder if TD's offered, or if he hasn't offered, maybe he was waiting for Vic to ask him instead. I won't speculate, I have no idea of the dynamic is between them.

I forgot about this. I understand he can pick whoever he wants, but there is no way that Kobe was a better player than TD. It sort of seems in line with Vic maybe overlooking TD because he didn't play with the flash that some of the other all-time greats played with. I loved watching TD, but I guess the average fan didn't.

Should we trade Wemby tbh? Clearly trouble in paradise and it’s a bad look to side with Vic over Duncan…I’d start throwing feelers out there to see what we can get.

Jalen Wells did a good job of guarding him at times in the last game. I thought it was a great chance for Dylan to learn going up against a defender that he can’t just brush off. I am so excited about Dylan, he just needs more minutes damn it. He’s showing that he’s too good not to be on the floor even at this early age. I can’t believe how lucky the spurs are to have this kid.

Better just call the Lakers and see what they’d offer. Keep it quiet, don’t want a bidding war or something.

Some dudes and dudettes here belong to the "show me a cliff and I will happily fall off it" school of thought. There is nothing that indicates that there is any falling out between Tim Duncan and Victor Wembanyama or any of the Spurs' organisation's key luminaries with the Spurs' latest franchise player. The fact that TD approves of Dylan is news because Dylan hasn't been touted as a generational talent like Wemby and it is obvious to anyone that Wemby is one of the best talents drafted ever and it is not required of TD to reiterate it.

I don't buy into this TD-Victor feud. The rumor sprung up because KG brought it up which I just don't believe KG. He was always a hated rival of Tim and even though he's given him respect over the years it's been done begrudgingly. Unless any other sources come out about this alleged feud I don't buy it.

nobody said feud. KG just said that Tim isn't really around and he and wemby dont have much of a relationship

and to that end, have we really heard Wemby talking about Timmy at all?

It's easy to forget how young Vic is. The PR around GOAT-level Kobe is so pervasive (and TD comparatively being such a non-flashy hermit) I think you'd generally be hard-pressed to find fans younger than 30 who know TD > Kobe.

There are some people in here who have implied that there is a feud or a rift between Duncan and Victor.

The same people who get butt hurt when the Spurs drop in the ESPN power rankings or when one of the ESPN talking heads doesn't say all flattering things about everything SA.

And just as dumb.

I think Tim hangs out with Manu and Pop and maybe Ninja, but I don't get a sense at all that he's hanging out with all these other Spurs except for Victor. I don't want to shock anyone, but I get a sense that just maybe Tim is a very reserved person and likes to do his own thing.

Entitled Spurs fans expect our Hall of Fame players to not only win championships but become volunteer coaches in retirement.

Small sample size and limited role obviously, but a rookie and teenaged lead guard having positive metrics across the board is virtually unheard of.

In recent history, the list might just be Doncic, who was playing professionally at 15.

Vic's generation idolized Kobe Ballhog. Not a surprise that's who Vic wants to be. At least right now.

I think this all stems from some podcast KG did after spending a day with Wemby and Garnett said that Tim and Wemby tried a mentorship relationship and "it didn't go well" but 1) how would KG know and 2) what does that even mean?

Much ado about nothing. Timmy loves the Spurs and the Spurs are currently Wemby

I was being tongue in cheek with my original comment by the way lol. Wasn’t seriously speculating anything.

This is what I based it off. KG said he didn't get to workout with Vic during the offseason (I think he said they may try and get together and schedule a proper workout at some point), but they did speak about basketball related stuff. Maybe what KG said was incorrect. He made it sound like they don't get along (I took it to mean they don't have anything in common outside of basketball, so they probably don't talk much). I'm also thinking that Victor plays a completely different game to Tim and has a different body, so maybe Tim doesn't think he can show him much if Vic is not playing a more traditional big man oriented game? No idea if Tim has worked out with Victor in the past (I thought they hadn't). Someone in the thread earlier today said he saw video last season of them working together. Great if they have.
