Player The restricted-age video store section of Dylan Harper

So good to see Harper out there. His influence is similar to HB, very calming, just an intelligent baller. So weird for a 19year old. He makes it look so easy. Already delivers passes on the money where players want the ball. I didn't realize his playmaking has Harden-like potential. Will be good for him to get a few games under his belt before Castle and Wemby return. Seems like a guy who could fit in on any team and make winning plays. Imagine what he could do with a couple of elite shooters.
Last night he mostly played with Sochan who was an awful finisher. When he plays with Kornet, the chemistry is through the roof. I’d argue that unlocking Dylan is giving him finishers and lob threats, not more shooters. Barnes, Champagnie, and even Vassell support him just fine.

Seeing Sochan smoke layups after brilliant passes from Harper in that first half last night was awful.

Yep. I love Dylan Harper and he made some good plays that Sochan screwed up. No wonder Mitch pulled Jeremy the rest of the game.

What got me was Harper being ready for the offensive rebound when Sochan attempted a shot. He knew it had no chance of going in lol

I see everything you see. The only thing I don't see is how Rutgers was ass last year.

You could tell he was gassed, but he was so good yesterday for having missed 10 games.

Optimism running high right now.

That and seemingly the entire bench being up in arms about the refs waiving off Jermey’s made free throw. They knew the next one would clank.

What a talent. I just wish they run more pick and rolls for Dylan. It should happen once Wemby is back and Harper will be paired with either him or Kornet more. The kid has a seriously good drive and kick game to go with terrific downhill pressure. A big who can screen and run with him would maximise Harper's game. That big isn't Sochan.

Also Dylan's defense has been sneakily good. Reminds me yet again of my favourite Spur, Manu. Here's hoping the Argentine genius takes Dylan under his wing and gives him some useful tutelage.

He genuinely looks like mini-Manu out there, fused with some Parker when going downhill. The talent just pops off my screen

Silky smooth

may he be healthy now and have a great first year

lots of potential

This team is blessed. Hope he stays healthy for the rest of the year because he is absolutely fun to watch.

It could be Sochan, who was really good finishing Chris Paul set-ups last year.

If not for the time off and minutes restrictions, he maybe would have been our third ROTY in a row. No matter what, we have a gem (well, several) in our hands.

Not counting D-Rob, Timmy and Wemby....I think Harper has shown most potential and maturity among all other Spurs rookies in his rookie year (yes, even better than Tony, Manu, Nephew, DJ Murray, D-White, Castle in their rookie year)

Wasn't Manu like 25 when he debuted? I don't know about having more maturity than him.

In term of playing style and bbIQ.

Manu being 25 was definitely mature in term of age but his 'reckless/chaotic/out of the box' style at that time was still seen as 'gambling' until Pop decided to let Manu be Manu and trust that Manu's feel for the game and his proven records as a winner everywhere will be viable in the NBA.

I won't put him above Manu because Manu came into his rookie year with a badly injured ankle. Manu also killed it (up until he got hurt) in the World Championships leading Argentina to the first ever win by a country against a USA basketball team with NBA players. Manu did big things that year. I wouldn't look at just the raw numbers in that case. At the same age, though, Harp is way ahead.

This kid is the future. He could play 5 minutes a night and have them be our best 5 minutes. I get an even stronger feeling of the same type as watching rookie Castle, that sense of "this guy just knows how to play winning basketball, no matter what" kind of game.

Very strong for his size, very cerebral for his age, very poised for his relative lack of experience (it's beyond obvious his dad was an NBA player and he grew up with a basketball in his hands). Just an amazing dynamo that completely changes the dynamics of whatever lineup he's placed with.

I have no doubts: if and when the Spurs make the Playoffs this season, Harper will be trusted with ball-handling duties in the clutch. He's just ready (and ready to fail and learn from it, also, of course).

I feel like if he'd been drafted to one of the bad teams, he'd be running away with ROTY. The basketball Gods are channeling all of their power into us to offset the evil wrought by basketball Satan in OKC

Think if he never got hurt he would be in the running for roty.Thats pretty much why hes not leading,Cause hes messed so many game already.
Still got a chance to catch up.

He's going to have a hard time against guys on shit teams padding their stats (like Kon). I definitely see 1st team all rookie though and it's not too far fetched to think he'll end up the best out of this class, and I say that without any disrespect intended towards Flagg.

Kid just doesn‘t look like a rookie at all. He‘s a 19-year old rookie PG who plays like a vet. Also massively underrated on defense. He‘s elite at staying in front of his man.

Wemby seems very mature on how he handles his new found fame. But game poise? I think Dylan has better poise in his rookie year. If I were to nitpick. Wemby has hero-ball tendencies. I don’t blame him because he’s very skilled, but he needed to trust the system and his teammates. And Dylan seems to be handling a better job on staying and accepting his role. We have to admit, Dylan could be top pick any other draft, but he is playing off-the-bench and taking it maturely. His handles and decision making are way above his age.
