Player The restricted-age video store section of Dylan Harper

Disaster of a game. Fuck.
This is what happens when you sit out players. I hope Fox wasn't healthy enough to play.

If he was and he did play, maybe Dylan isn't on the court at that moment and doesn't get hurt. I can't stand the Spurs and their secrets. I can't stand the gutless SA media that never asks how injured a player is and how close they are to returning. He was one of the team's best players. It's going to hurt if he's out an extended amount of time, which obviously he likely will be (I hope he is not and the walking boot is just a precaution) at after seeing him with that walking boot. Disaster of a game alright :(.

San Antonio media have always been a bunch of pussies. Now that the senile grumpy sarcastic old grandpa isn't here anymore I was hoping they'd be more transparent with Mitch. But it's still the same old story. A 200 million player with little answers thus far. You have an extended off-season, had an injured hand last year now this year still out with a hamstring. Now Harper is out and it doesn't look so good. Hope they're not both just injury prone

It’ll be a while until we see him, and for one reason: both Tatum and Hali first presented with a calf injury before their respective Achilles let go.

Jeremy's calf injury was reported in August, they said it's nothing serious and that he'll skip Eurobasket as a precaution and it took him almost 3 months to be game ready. (He's currently out because of finger issue, not calf.)

What a terrible outcome to an already bad game/loss. I am fine with the loss, but losing Dylan for possibly months is going to suck (I hope it's not that serious, though).

Any idea how long it actually took Jeremy to recover from his calf injury? I also don't remember Jeremy's being as bad as what Dylan's looked? Wasn't Jeremy's just a slight strain and the Spurs held him out of the Euro cup (don't know the offical name of the tournament) for precautionary reasons? Didn't Jeremy say that he could still play if he had to?

The herky jerky shit only works if your legs are incredibly strong and durable. He puts an insane amount of force down on his ankles and calves. Castle too. That’s isn’t going to fly in the long run.

Harper out means we are in store for some reeeeeeeal main character shit from Devin for a long time. This team is at risk of losing themselves and going back to tank-ball. Fox will help but he can’t just do his thing. He needs to figure out how to establish an offense with Vic as his buddy. None of this improv crap like last night.

The fact that he's more of an iron man than any of our other guards raises Castle's value significantly. Who cares about your stats when you only play a fraction of the season?

Dude left the arena in a walking boot and crutches... he ain't gonna play til 2026 imo

I hate how hard/loud Castle’s steps sound when he’s doing those deceleration steps. It really scares me for the long run. But so far he has held up. I hope and pray it stays that way.

Suffering a non-contact calf or Achilles injury has got to as much with luck / randomness as much as it depends upon stress on the legs due to workload and style of play. Thats the accepted consensus from doctors that I have read about these kinds of injuries (which have been more common in recent years). One possible reason is the increased wear and tear for younger players who have upped their training intensities or workloads. We cannot blame Harper for suffering such a injury while appreciating his veteran like poise and extremely high skilled scoring in the paint-talent. Obviously the young-un has honed this ability through hours of practice and tried to maximize the genetic talent he has. This injury or the others he has suffered in his amateur and pro-career isn't due to the absence of physical fitness or preparing his body for the NBA grind, but perhaps a consequence of overdoing it. No one can blame an athlete for doing so.

I can only hope that the injury is not too serious and Harper is back after abundant rest and relaxation for his calf muscle - thats the accepted consensus too if he has to avoid further serious injury. Thankfully the fact that Fox's return is impending and in the horizon should help the Spurs.

Its a great downer to see the possibility of his being sidelined for a relatively long time - a few weeks. I enjoyed watching every minute when Harper was on court, especially the minutes he shared with Wemby. These offered the best P&R play for the Spurs besides reminding me of another great Spur who also suffered injuries because of the way he played. We knew him by the nickname, "El Contusion". Just as we had to bear with periods when Manu had to endure injury and couldn't help the Spurs, I think we can wait for Harper to recover, get to a sweet spot where he can combine his work ethic with the way he takes care of his body and then work on reaching the best of his limitless potential soon.

I think he is fine and his game is slowly evolving.

when it's all said and done, i'd be thrilled if harper can be back by January. hope to hear some kind of news by tomorrow at least.

Well shit. Definitely gotta get Dylan an extended period of rest and rehab as you don't fuck around with calf injuries. He is way too important to this franchise's future success to not err hard on the side of caution. Probably kills the 50 win season but the goal is to be winning 60-65 and raising a banner in a couple years.
