Player The restricted-age video store section of Dylan Harper

Lots of comparisons to Manu in that second clip. Scary that Harper is doing this kind of Manu-like activity at 19 years old.

Harper is the best Spurs rookie outside of Duncan/Robinson/Wemby. I don't recall rookie TP/Manu/Kawhi being this good. Rookie Kawhi was a 3 & D monster but he had no on ball ability or shot creation like Harper.
Better rookie than Castle?

Obviously a better rooke than Porker (sorry I had to)

Harper looks so smooth with incredible footwork and finishing ability around the rim. In all honesty I did not think he would look this polish this early on.

Can't wait to see him how he will feed off of Fox as he seems to be a decent enough catch and shoot 3 point shooter.

Looks this polished early on even after missing a bunch of camp/preseason with that thumb injury. Can’t wait to see how he looks post-ASB break as he continues to get his feet under him.

Agreed but rookie wall is a pretty real thing. Hopefully it's not too bad for him.

I'm afraid he'll lose out on ROTY consideration when Fox comes back, his numbers will probably dip

He had a couple of attempts that only elite finishers would even think of trying. They didn't go in, but it's still a good sign for me.
In a few months Mitch is going to have a huge headache in guard rotation, Harper will be too good.

Sooooo it really really looks like Harper’s going to be 35%+ at 3 fairly quickly and I bet he can get to 40. His shot is real nice.

I think he should start once Fox is back tbh. It’s not long before it’s obvious he’s ahead of castle so let’s just wreck everyone in the first quarter.

I honestly think Harper will be a better player than not only Castle, but Fox, Cunningham, and most other guys he's been compared to. He's the legit 2nd star the Spurs were looking for, now they need to find long term wings and forwards WHO CAN F'ING SHOOT to allow him to thrive.

I remember not too long ago Spurs were only rooting for DPOY or ROTY as there were 0 PO expectation anyway. As of today roster focus is POs. For the rest I sure hope Mitch finds a way to maintain 20 to 25 mpg for Harper, if he continues to not hesitate shooting 3s it will make coaching staff life easier to play him eating some of Vassell, Champ minutes

Im a huge Castle fan, but, yes, I'd even concede better than Castle.

Both came is with a super rare and high level of poise and confidence, but you can see Dylan's raw talent as a true PG is just different. Castle has done well this year, and I think will only get better when Fox returns and he slides to a secondary ball-handler role. Spurs will have to primaries (Fox/Dylan) and secondaries (Castle/Vassell) at all times, which is awesome.

He’s probably better than castle right now tbh.

It’s not a knock. Castle is very good. Harper is probably an all star this year if he was on the wizards.

This seems kind of hyperbolic but honestly I'm not sure you're that far off. Put him on one of these bottom-feeder teams where he'd be the #1 or 2 option and I absolutely think he's putting up 20+ ppg. Would definitely be some ugly games here and there and not saying he's truly an all-star from an impact standpoint but it's just remarkable how good he looks so far.

If he were just handed the keys to a basement dweller team he would absolutely put up big points and assists numbers on better than expected efficiency I believe. Wouldn't win many games, but all star and Roty would easily be in play. Dylan is a more natural ball handler than Castle and actually has more shooting indicators in his favor. Defense is closer than we'd think but Castle gets the nod there for now. Love that we have both of them, both are on great trajectories.

I'd love more of Harper's minutes to be with Wemby, but even when paired with Kornet it looked really good. Biyombo is the kryptonite to our lineups right now, they need to find or trade for a different body for that spot. 3rd bigs will get more minutes than we'd expect even with relatively solid health.
Olynyk is the third big

After that Sonics game Sonics tried to trade Payton for Parker, he was that good, showing that much promise.
But it’s nice to see we can resurrect the Manu vs Parker arguments with Harper and Castle arguments. How about we sit back and enjoy the Spurs having both.

Interesting on what Mitch said on why he pulled him. I timestamped the question. Mitch said something along the lines of : he had a turnover because he was telegraphing the pass cause he wasn't looking to attack, that the kid has the ability to be in attack mode at all times and still be able to process and deliver passes and make reads and make plays and he just wanted to remind him of that. As we guessed, he was going to put him back in, but since the team went on a run and was playing well, he stuck with the guys that were out there.

A higher floor then?

Ceiling probably UNDEFINED as of now......

Lets see how he tackles continuous improvement

What luck that we got him

Or was it luck (or the NBA realizing they need the Spurs, lol)

Nah that was a playoff game. Sonics tried to trade Payton for Parker + Malik Rose + Antonio Daniels + Charles Smith (the good one) after Tony's first summer league game.
