Wemby was never winning MVP tbh. He would've had to go nuclear the rest of the way and the Spurs would've had to surpass OKC in the standings, but OKC just keeps winning. Even the 10 games SGA missed they went 8-2w without him (both games without Jalen Williams too).
I guess wemby can if the spurs stop the fkn load management and play him 34mpg the rest of the season.

All Wemby needs to win MVP is for the Spurs to finish ahead of OKC, but the Thunder don't seem to let up, tbh.
Nah. Wemby also needs to up his stats.tbh. But with spurs load managing him its hard for him to do it.

Jokic 40 minutes played
SGA 39 minutes played
Thats it tbh.

Previously, one of SGA weakness is that he could be unreliable during clutch time and when refs don't give him any calls. Now he is starting to make game winner and becoming more clutch. Definitely the best player in the world now.

Best team in the league. They remind me of the old Spurs and their ability to win big games even when missing key players..And lol at Lowe, Bill Simmons and co who desperately tried to put Denver on the same level.. Folks just need to admit that Jokic Nuggets were never a juggernaut at any point and still are not-- just a run-of-the-mill contender..

Wemby is changing the narrative, with each passing game you see more and more pundits saying things like these:

Whomever finishes 1st, wins the MVP.

I don't fear Denver and think we can beat them in a series but getting them in the 1st round would suck while OKC can get easier matchups against the banged up Warriors and Clippers.

Even if OKC doesn't finish 1st, they're gonna bail SGA out with the injury narrative tbh.

Nah, i dont see it happening until it happens. Broussard is a wemby fan. Also media likes wemby and they are hyping him up to be the best player in the league and face of the league. Being the best player in league doesnt mean you are automatically win the MVP race. The reality is Wemby needs to up his stats to beat SGA in the MVP race.

Same thing from the old spurs. They won the west or even have the best record in the nba in 2006,2011 and 2012 but nobody on the spurs win the MVP or even finsih 2nd in the voting.

Game felt like SGA snatching Jokic's chain. Gap now is 11 games between OKC and Denver-- that's curtains for Jokic's MVP chances as far I'm concerned. Thunder were also bettered by injuries.

And guess who votes for MVP. If the Spurs finish 1st, Wemby is winning MVP. Mark my words.

Bleh that OKC game hurts. Loss would’ve helped us in the standings + SGA putting up that type of performance with a game winner on national TV cements his lead in the MVP race even further.

Wemby will need to have an otherworldly stretch from here on out to have a shot at MVP.

Yeah i agree. Maybe 3 50pts game might do it.

Gilgeous-Alexander is the best all around guard since Jordan. All of the others had or have weaknesses.

Bryant was selfish and inefficient.
Wade was a poor 3-point shooter.
Paul was small and not really a go-to scorer.
Curry is small and a defensive liability.
Harden is a defensive liability with a penchant for no showing the biggest games.
Doncic is a defensive liability and serial whiner.

Wembanyama was never winning MVP this season anyway. There's often been a wait-your-turn element to these things and there's still clearly some residual bitterness from certain media that the Spurs got him.

Favorites: Thunder
Contenders: Spurs, Nuggets, Celtics
Dark Horses: Timberwolves, Knicks, Cavaliers
Pretenders: Pistons, Rockets

Denver should feel good despite the loss. They're suffering injuries and consistency and OKC barely beat them at the buzzer at home. I'd pick the Thunder, but it could be a series.

Victor "needs to up his stats" sure, actually he needs to become more consistent (in statistical terms). I say statistical because having stretches of 10/12 point games really look bad even though his game-breaking defense is always present. He should aim at what SGA is doing which is minimum 20 points every single game. However he's still only 22 and not capable of that yet. He will be.
Victor knows all that, and he knows his conditioning continues to be the key to the career he aspires to.

Also I agree, the MVP trophy is possible but not probable for Wemby this year. He's enjoying a big wave of (deserved) hype right now but how long will that last? Probably until our next L, we'll see, but what is true is that he is firmly establishing himself in the MVP conversation, and realistically at this point I think he would Top 3, which is incredible in only his 3rd season.
