Will the Spurs get HCA in the '25-26 Playoffs?

Nah we don't need 5/6 game leads we need okc to lose...not worried about rest of field

I don't wanna get too carried away, but really feels like the Spurs are the only team on or close to OKC level/tier (metrics bear that out). It is just the lack of experience that is preventing me from penciling us in WCF (could see Spurs-Hornets '08 type of series where Denver out-veteran us in Game 7 at home even though Spurs look like the slightly better team throughout the series)

Neither a WCF appearance or a first round exit would surprise me tbh. Playoffs are just a different animal so it's hard to say how the guys will respond. There's also the Mitch factor where I'm not super confident that we head into a series with the superior gameplan.

I do think people are underselling the fact that Wemby and Castle have both played in some big games in their young careers (NCAA Championship and a Gold Medal game). Obviously not the same but I'm not too worried about those guys under the bright lights tbh.

1st seed and HCA would be nice. But a good break in seeding is, frankly, more important.

Like if Denver/Minnesota ends up in the 4/5 seed then I'd much, much rather have OKC get the 1 seed tbh.

Nuggets fans have turned up the temperature on Adelman mainly because of their abysmal clutch play this season. I still think their real issue is that their two best players are awful defenders..
There is only so much you can do to cover that over. Injuries aside, there is a reason a Jokic-led team has never had a 10-game winning streak once or won 60 games in season: you need two-way excellence from your best player to achieve consistent dominance (same applies to Doncic)..Short of that, you'd have to be surrounded by ALL-D/DPOY-caliber players as the Warriors did with Curry

according to the tankathon strength of schedule thing, our 9 most difficult games left on the schedule are:

pistons x2, celtics, knicks, nuggets x3, rockets, and raptors

in our next 10 games, we will have completed 7 of those 9 hardest games left

I think that the second seed race is over.
Rockets are 5 losses behind and they've been terrible. 19-16 after a 15-5 start.
The Nuggets are 6 losses behind and other than the Jazz game, they have Celtics, Thunder x2, Lakers x2, Timberwolves, Rockets, Knicks and Spurs over their next 10 games.
Our schedule isn't much easier, but they won't be gaining ground on us.
Others aren't serious threats to catch up with us.

Yup! These next few weeks will be decisive in the standings and also give our young team a taste of high level competition before the playoffs.

Completely mild take coming in, but I'm actually much more concerned about how we match up against the 6-10 seeds than I am the 1-5 seeds.

Same tbh, mostly a healthy Phoenix team and Curry having an eternal hard on when he plays the Spurs.

Not too worried about the Clippers and Portland tbh.

I still have mild concerns about both LAC and POR. We've yet to face LAC this year, so it's hard to full gauge where we stand against them and they have shed two guys who always played us tough in Harden and Zubac (though, lol playoff Harden).

POR I'm not completely sure about... they have guys who can just get hot and start going off with crazy shots in Deni and Sharpe... and those are the kinds of guys who seem to burn us. We'll see how we match up in the penultimate game of the season against them.

Damn, this stretch has been incredible. Entering tonight against Det the Spurs had the 15th hardest schedule remaining, from herein were about 20th, while Den, OKC, and Minny are 1, 2, and 3. Houston's at 25th but they aren't looking to scary and we have a 5.5 game lead on them. Getting very very close to not only locking up home court, but securing top2 in the West. 54 wins probably secures top2 and we only have to go 13-12 to get there. I can't believe we're playing this well

so tomorrow OKC plays at Toronto

Then Wednesday we get the raptors on their segababa, and the pistons play OKC (in Detroit) on theirs

And then while we have a back to back, the second leg of ours is against a tanking nets team

Seems like a pretty strong chance OKC drops at least one of those

We wouldn't be in this predicament if we hadn't played like absolute dogshit after beating the OKC on Christmas all the way up through the end of January tbh

I mean losing at home to the Pelicans and Utah should be a felony

You can't really complain about the record. Yeah, Spurs lost those games, but they also won a lot of games people didn't expect them to. Those losses may have been necessary for the team to be playing this well right now.

for today's scoreboard watchers:

Thunder @ Raptors
Wolves @ Blazers
Magic
@ Lakers

not that im massively worried about anybody other than Houston/Denver at this point, and Denver only because they play us 3 times

also if the spurs do win these last 2 games of the month, their win% will have them on a 60 win pace
