Timberwolves and the Nuggets have even more experience as a team playing together for a while than the Lakers.
It's an argument against the Spurs in every matchup.

I kind of don't really care what anyone in the media says.
I'm not comparing the Lakers to others WC rivals, I'm just saying that if they end the season in a heater, I'm not as confident in a pontential second round matchup as others seem to be, from what I read.

I agree with you... and this might be copium, but I think the playoff drought is going to help ramp our home court advantage up to 11, especially in the first round and that might carry us past whatever nerves we might have.

But I agree with you, anyone we might face in Rd 1 scares me more than anyone we might face in Rd 2, except for MIN. I'm not afraid of DEN.
I mentioned the exact same thing in the Clippers game thread. I'm not anywhere near as worried about the possible second round team compared to the possible first round opponent. I just don't know if it' s because the Spurs haven't been in the playoffs yet, nerves, or if it's those specific teams (Clippers, Suns, Warriors, or one of the others if they drop). Maybe it's a combination of all those things, but it could also be a great thing if/when the Spurs pass a test like that, it could set them up for a huge playoff run.

I never thought about the long playoff drought, though, and what the home fans might be like. That sounds great to me. Gives me a more positive vibe.

Got a feeling he gonna hit some bullshit 3 in the clutch against us in the playoffs
i dont know why it would be bullshit. he was a very good shooter in college, a very good shooter as a rookie, and now a very good shooter as a sophomore (even if he started slow coming off injury)

Stupid, stupid fuckwit Morey. Sam Presti fleecing yet ANOTHER clown (I hope Morey read this, because, yes, he is a clown).

Luka could beat Houston, Minny, and Denver in the playoffs. He has enough help now to do that. No one controls the pace of the game like Luka in the playoffs.

I don’t see the lakers beating the Thunder or the Spurs although I see both series going 6.

I was just thinking the other day how impressive it was that the Clippers climbed back up to .500 and just over, but looks like they've slid down again under .500.

I really wonder who the other teams would want to play. For example, who would LA want in round one? Who Houston want in round one? Who would the Nuggets want etc.?

no matter how sloppy they look, nobody is going to "want" to get Denver in a 7 round series.

there are few "easy" matchups. right now houston appears to be in disarray... which felt like a matter of time after Steven Adams went down.

as much as we think the lakers are good matchup for us, who is to say that they wont get 4 games of Luka magic over the course of any 7 game series and win despite being otherwise outmatched? same with Edwards and his clutch heroics this year. heck even GSW... if Curry is healthy, who really is relishing having to deal with his ridiculous shotmaking?

I'm actually quite suprised about LA. I was telling someone they don't play enough defense to get anywhere a week or two ago, and now it looks like they're turning it around. I should have kept my mouth shut.
You're right, though, don't look like any easy opponents for anyone. Any of that stuff you mentioned could happen.

I’m not worried about anyone, not even OKC. Teams need to be fucking worried about US. I wouldn’t be surprised to see teams trying to avoid us , perhaps even trying to get to the other side of the bracket.

No one is trying to line us up in their sites.
Hopefully this is the case. I hope teams do want to avoid the Spurs. I would love it if the Spurs are feared and have teams trying to avoid them instead. That'd mean they have a mental edge.
IMO, it's always good to have a mental edge over someone. In some cases, that could cause someone to lose the game before it's even started.

The Laker,as usual are fake news.

Luka in this current form makes the Lakers a threat. He is a playoffs assassin. Between that and LakersRef tax, our potential second round series will not be the cakewalk everyone thought it would be a week ago.

They needed a near perfect night from 50 year old LeBron and an MVP performance from Luka to beat the Rockets. Lakers are a non issue. Now the refs? That's another story...

Agreed. Even OKC doesn’t really want to see us. They know if they beat us. It’s going to be an absolute dog fight. Probably 7 games.

If the Lakers are going to average 45 FTA per game in the playoffs they won't lose to anyone tbh.

I wouldn’t say I’m “worried” about anyone, but realistically I expect any of our potential 2nd round matchups to be fairly challenging. I don’t see us just casually stomping any of LA/Denver/Minnesota/Houston.

LA and Denver both have generational talents who can theoretically cancel out Wemby and turn it into a series of whose 2nd/3rd/4th options show up best. I don’t view Ant Edwards in that light but there’s no denying he has killed us in the past and we seem to struggle against Minnesota. Houston is the least threatening and I’d be pretty surprised if they beat us, but I do think it’d be a hard fought series.

Agree. Thats why i dont pick/choose opponents. Just play whoever basketball gods throw.

Think the Spurs would take 6-7 to beat the first three and could see them losing to Denver or Minny, but I think Houston goes 5 max. Spurs figured out that matchup with the Rockets' current roster situation tbh.
