Why?
Those matchups are all on Wemby.
He should dominate both teams with ease.
If he can't, then we're not ready to contend, anyway.
sons have the combination of a good man to man defender in Brooks who has given Wemby fits and the long/athletic Mark Williams behind him. they also have booker who is one of those dudes that can score despite Castle's defense.

and the clippers, i dont know man, they just seem to play us well for one reason or another. kawhi, DJJ... good length and athleticism in their frontline. and kawhi is a monster clutch player. if the games are down to the wire, who do you trust more on a possession by possession basis, him or Fox/Castle?

I'd be disappointed with anything less than 6-1 over the next 7 games.
Suns and Heat are the only threats, other 5 games should be easy wins.
7-0 should be the goal, but a loss can always happen.

Warriors/Clippers b2b could be tricky, but we're still the favorites, with the Nuggets game being the most difficult one left on the calendar, 2-1 would be fine.
That would get us to 58-20 before the final home stretch, which has 3 no contest games and the Nuggets to close the season out.
Not getting 60 wins would be disappointing considering the schedule, tbh.
Every single remaining game is winnable, I would definitely be disappointed if we didn't get to 60 wins, especially now that Wemby has put it out there as a goal.

Miami game is going to be fun - Wemby was not impressed by Bam's 83 and I could see him entering that match up with a chip on his shoulder.

Irritating to me and obvious in last nights game vs Clippers is how much the Spurs players other then Wemby do not interreact with each other enough. Oh sure they do on some possessions, heck ya.
But too often they act like they are stuck and just default force it to Wemby or do a My Time move.
I remember Timmy Duncan having a few years with the same problem.

It's like FFS run some pick n rolls, screens, do some assists etc WITH EACH OTHER.

with a chip on his shoulder.
Speaking of shoulder chips I can't help but wonder if the Foul Merchant Princess getting MVP is going to seriously motivate Victor even more to eliminate OKC should we meet on the way to the Finals.

getting to the point where im genuinely more worried about the first round than the second

part of it is the experience thing... if the playoff atmosphere ends up overwhelming some guys, we'll see it in the first round. if they get past that, they should have their nerves about them in the second.

the other part is the matchups. sons and clippers worry me quite a bit
I agree with you... and this might be copium, but I think the playoff drought is going to help ramp our home court advantage up to 11, especially in the first round and that might carry us past whatever nerves we might have.

But I agree with you, anyone we might face in Rd 1 scares me more than anyone we might face in Rd 2, except for MIN. I'm not afraid of DEN.

I hope they have SGA's MVP ceremony before Game 1 of the WCF against us for this very reason. Wemby gonna put Shai and Chet in the same body bag.

I'm not afraid of the Suns because current Wemby is far better than Wemby that was troubled by Brooks.
Player for player we're far better than them.

I hope we get the Clippers because destroying nephew and those tampering scumbags would be a perfect start to this new era.
Without Zubac and Harden they can't do shit in a 7 game series.
Yes, both recent games were close, but we were half assing it for the most part and still won.

At this rate we might face MN in the first round

Very true, and quite unfortunate
Imagine if the Spurs did win it all, beating Ant and the Wolves in the first round, Luka and LAL in the second round, SGA and OKC in the conference finals, and BOS/DET/NYK in the finals. Damn, that'd be an all time run... What a way to start a new dynasty...

Okay I'll stop touching myself now

IMO, all time run would be beating GSW, DEN, OKC, and BOS. The last 4 NBA Champions, all in one playoff run.

Mark Williams might not even be around if his stress reaction in his foot doesn’t get better

I hope we get gsw in the first round so that i can watch a playoff game live in person for the first time.

People want to bring up Dillon Brooks but he's also been on two teams that lost to the 7th seed in the 1st round.

Anyone but Curry in the first round tbh. That little fuck goes GOAT Curry vs Wemby everytime.

Of course this goes without saying that Minnesota shouldnt drop to 7th.

Feels like curry heavily ducks the season when it’s clear his team isn’t going anywhere (broken hand that somehow took a year to heal a few years back and now patellofemoral pain syndrome having him miss like 20 games)

Barnes in the SL 😹😹😹😹 probably best to do this against the ostensibly tanking Kings but I’m willing to bet we’ll see some putrid play

I would be afraid of golden state too if Butler was still playing. But it’s basically Curry vs our entire team, if he’s even ready to go. Not honestly afraid of any of the teams currently in 7-10. Would definitely be more worried if Denver or Minny falls to 7th.

Outside of Denver, I don't really care too much about who we play in Round 1 tbh. We're gonna have playoff jitters against anybody and even the Suns when healthy are a good team.

It's the West, there are no freebies. The only way out is through tbh.
