Spurs holding on to #2 by the skin of their teeth

They're really lucky they haven't lost it already, as they're playing like complete shit. Probably bottom 3 of the current top 10 teams in the West based on form.

I hope they can turn it around. I am starting to feel really positive for some reason, so let's see what they can do. It all starts tomorrow @ Houston. Let's get it going.
Even if they don't win the game, make sure it's a highly competitive game and carry that on for the rest of the season. Start upping the physicality levels from this point on.
And just forget about what has happened the past month, it's time to refocus and start the buildup now. Go on a wild run to the WCF with this being the first step towards that. GSG!

The Spurs are lucky to not have lost the #2 seed already given their play -- but also, the Spurs worked hard and diligently at the start of the season to build a cushion of wins that's been crucial in keeping that #2 seed despite their recent play. Two sides to the same coin.

Now if they could get their heads outta their asses before tonight's tip-off, that'd be great. I am expecting a lot from the team and Wemby in particular tonight, and being the last matchup against our most direct seeding opponent, it's maybe the Spurs' most important game before the ASB.

Put up or shut up.... Piss or get off the pot...... Make it or miss it........... :st-flag:

Cant believe that floor arena hasnt changed. This isnt the first time, wtf this is just straight up hazardous

Bronny getting massive ovation every time he scores in garbage time @ CLE. Had a break away dunk that nearly brought the house down… and now he’s on a heater… 3-3 with 2 threes

Huge Win with tie-break implications for second seed (Spurs clinched a tie with 1 home game left vs HOU)..With Lakers loss and Jokic not getting reevaluated for another week, it is time to put some separation in the standings

I think they get blown out in Charlotte this weekend and beat the Magic at home the next night tbh.

Yeah winning in Charlotte would be very impressive. IIRC they beat us last year and they have players that give me Spurs killer vibes. The only bright side is Charlotte wins and gets closer to passing Atlanta in the standings.

Charlotte is a 4 am game here on a sunday. Would be unfortunate for me to start my Sunday on a bad note.

How's everybody feeling about the whole "40 wins before 20 losses" goal? Would have to clear an 8-4 record in the next 12 games:

If we get our shit together it does feel doable. I would've said no before last night but that second half gave me a lot of hope we're making adjustments going forward. I'm bookin it with wins against Hornets, Magic, Dallas x2, Warriors, Kings, Raptors, Nets.

No reason it cannot be achieved IMO, it's absolutely within reach for this team. I know they've been playing bad lately, but I'd go as far as saying I'll be disappointed if they miss it -- they've just been that good when it's "on", like last night. They have eeked out unlikely wins against top teams all season long (and embarrassing losses to lesser opponents as well, lol).

Besides the OKC game that I'm scratching off beforehand, and maybe Detroit, I don't see any other teams on the list that the Spurs can't be expected to win against. It took Curry legacy games for GSW to beat us the last times, Phoenix is a mental game, and the rest of them, it'll be "Spurs losing" rather than "Opp. winning" most likely. Just the reality of a young team.

I'm ironically more confident about the Charlotte game than the Magic. The Hornets play high-octane offense but lack discipline and defense, the Spurs should exploit them. But we'll see what happens!

Hornets is a low key pretty big test for us. Young, fast paced, energetic, can score at all 3 levels, move the ball around well... all the kinds of things we tend to struggle with at times.

With that said, the Hornets also have a tendency to be really bi-polar. They have a losing record but have an absolutely bonkers margin of victory when they win.

I sure hope we come to play this weekend, these are two big games before we face OKC again. I'd love to enter that game on a win-streak.

It's wild that we've been so mediocre for the last month but held on to the 3rd best record in the league.
We've had our struggles but the opportunity remains in front of us to be a contender.
Danger also lurks, as we're only 4 games from sinking into the play-in.
The margins in the West are extremely close.
Part of what has kept things close is that the top teams have struggled.
The Clippers are the only team that has truly been special in the last month or so.
IF they stay healthy, Kawhi and his guys are going to be an extremely dangerous matchup for a top seed come playoff time.

A month ago, I was convinced that we needed to make some win-now moves before the trade deadline.
We looked ready to contend for a title.
We are still in contending position, but the team looks young and inexperienced. We lose games we shouldn't. We're inconsistent.
WEMBY is awesome, but inconsistent.
It's hard for me to see this team winning a title this season. Our superstar has to become more consistent. He's still far from his prime.
As such, might be better off keeping our draft assets and letting these young guns learn from what happens this season and playoffs.

One exception would be if we can get Murphy for a reasonable price.

Thunder are simply too beatable for the Spurs to stand pat and do nothing at the trade deadline, OKC looking way more vulnerable this season than last year. Teams are showing up and flat out punking them for a month and half now.

Man, west is wiiiiiide open this year.
Denver & Houston hit by crucial injuries; Lakers can't play a lick of D, Thunder looking worse for wear and we match-up well with them.. The Front office should start to see the opening & opportunity even if it's their first playoffs rodeo with this team.

Yup. Contending this year is really a reality. As of now all things considered, I can actually see Minnesota winning it all tbh.

OKC injuries is hurting them. SGA is the only one capable of initiating the offense now.

J-Dub and Ajay Mitchell are the only players than SGA that can create shots on their own and both are out as well

Wolves are a tough matchup tbh. Would much rather draw the Rockets or Lakers than them.
