News The Official Check Here Before Asking About Injury Return Dates Thread

Remember that Pop did play Sochan sparsely at the backup PG role during his rookie year and he handled it well until people praised him for being the 2nd coming of Draymond Green on offence
We started that season 6-18 with Jeremy averaging 8/4/2, I'm not sure where the praise was coming from.

Just give us one guy back today that isn't on a two way. Just ONE to prove to us MATFO hasn't forgotten about these guys or don't have a misguided plan to secure better draft position. ONE.

I would never argue that his time at PG was successful or smooth. But there were times last season that you could see his time there resulted in better decisions long after the fact.

Particularly in open court passing on the break and passing out of a trap. There were times when he was at point that he struggled to move the ball effectively and I did see improvement in that area once he moved back to more natural positions.

I do think in the end there was something gained there but we’ll obviously need to see that this season.

This is getting out of hand. Other than Harper, none of the guys should be out if their condition is really as minor as what we have heard all along.

Its frustrating not to see Fox suit up already. Crazy that he has been saying that he is ready to go since training camp and now we are 2 weeks into the season and nothing yet :/ Either the Spurs medical staff are being overly conservative or Fox has been to optimistic on his health. I would guess its a combination of the two.

I'm not sure I can watch much more of this. I'm too used to TD, Manu, TP and just smarter players in general. No wonder TD couldn't handle coaching. He must have felt very frustrated watching inferior players screw up time and time again and not being able to do anything about it. It's too frustrating. I might just start checking in for when Fox and/or Harper get back. Need some higher BBallIQ players out there.

you realize its a different game now? faster more offensive focused. 4 down was not that intelligent. your talking like duncan post 2006 when it became tony parkers team. i don't know any spurs fan who would say the spurs weren't watchable in the duncan solo days. back then we lost to the lakers too. are our players really worse than vinny del negro and avery?

low IQ chuckers is such a lame quip. you got joker and what else? who else would you say in the modern is high IQ? is sGA smart? Halliburton? FOX? LUKA?

Bruce Bowen, Brent Barry, Fabricio, Boris Diaw, Spurs were loaded with smart players. Don't you remember the saying back then from the media that the Spurs didn't beat themselves? The Spurs more often that not are beating themselves these days. I didn't really watch Vinny or Avery.

We also had plenty of dumb dumbs with Rings or deep playoff runs to their name with us. Malik Rose, DeJuan Blair, SJax, Rasho... it wasn't all Rhodes Scholars

thats why i loved what they did with Gary Neal. they basically told him that he is allowed to do 3 things in the half court

1) catch and shoot
2) one dribble pull-up
3) two dribble floater

he occassionally did some fun things in transition with the odd good pass, but as far as their planned offense, was extremely simple

thats it. simplify people's games and you can get them to be productive in their roles

So what are you saying? This team is going to be fine then?

This is emblematic of the stupid spoiled fan post, IMHO.

NBA players, even on a shit team, are the best players in the world. You don't win every night. When everyone is talking about you, expect for opponents to circle you on the schedule. The Spurs were smashing people the first week. They aren't sneaking up on anyone anymore.

Second, good team basketball takes time to learn. Anyone who didn't just pretend to watch games the last three years knows that and can see the improvement.

Next, even teams with Timmy and a bunch of vets struggled to put together 48 minute games consistently. Again, this league is fucking hard. And this team is missing three huge pieces and still competing.

Last, even with two straight losses, the Spurs are on a 59-win pace. If you told me they were one basket from winning six out of seven at any point since I've been a fan, I'd be thrilled.

I didn't get excited with the 5-0 start. I looked at the quality of teams played and knew they'd become over confident. As soon as I saw them celebrate winning that 5th game in a row, I knew they started thinking they're better than they are. They're darn lucky they even started 5-0. Not sure why the players were acting like they've done something. They talk about being sick of losing, well, they need to pay more attention to detail and stop throwing the ball away with unforced turnovers for a start. Plenty of other things they need to fix, but the turnovers are inexcusable for a team that claims they're sick of losing. I'm the biggest Castle fan around, but this past game, his turnovers just showed a complete lack of focus and it cost them this time. Can't be that loose and sloppy and expect to win. They're already having enough trouble with shooting, getting Vic the ball, defense on the three point line to be just giving away unforced turnovers and second chance points. Turnovers and rebounding are two things they can control more than anything else. It starts with those. It's an effort thing, a focus thing, two things they do have control over.

:st-popemote: "Hey Mitch, don't forget that we're running a marathon not a sprint"

Mitch keeps saying that they're (Kornet and Fox) are "close".
