Player The "It's My Time" Busted Clocktower of Devin Vassell

People always complained about his shot selection and difficulty, but those are the shots you NEED in the playoffs. Like magic, open shots at the rim and at the arc disappear in April.

You must have midrange shot makers to go far in the playoffs. That’s why Playoff Jimmy is Playoff Jimmy.

Maybe I was being too much of a hater but I feel like during wembys first two years devin was chucking way more 3s and not looking for midrange as much & his defense was not where we had all hoped given his college scouting.

Hes really put it together this year, pleasantly surprised

i dont think its the concept of taking midrange shots that was the issue, it was the variety where the ball would stop with him, he would take 3-4 dribbles, put on moves, spins, and then rise up for a contested midrange shot.

he's generally been taking clean looks this year, ie curling around a screen, the defender chases him around the screen, so he takes 1-2 dribbles toward the rim then pulls up for a good look before the center moves up to contest

he only took one midranger vs toronto, and it was a contested look when fading toward the baseline, but that hasnt been the norm for him. compare to the midrange shots made vs detroit (1:25, 1:43, 2:12)

He's been really fantastic this year. Probably not a role you usually want to pay $27MM to (just like Fox isn't playing a role you normally want to pay a max to) but the Spurs can afford it for now with 3 other key players on rookie deals.

Looks like he finally found consistency as a shooter. Happy to be proven wrong if he keeps it up.

Please keep it up Dev. At his best, I think he can approximate what Derrick White is to Boston.

Last year I had sochan KJ Devin in that order. Got that order reversed it seems, but KJ and Devin are this || close in terms of value to the team. They being different things to the table but both are valuable to the success of the team.

Having Devin fit into his role was crucial. Last year my major concern was that Devin was unwilling to play and role and still thinks he’s the main guy, which was why I want him gone. This year he seems to have accepted the role and he is flourishing.

he's gotten his season 3pt% up to 39.2

play solid defense, be a play finisher, and you will be a valuable forward for this team

His shooting is entering a middle class man rip hamiliton territory. Release point is a bit weird but he is consistent with it. Every time he shoot's it I'm shocked when the nets don't get ripped off tbh.

Exactly the type of player you want on a team with a dominant 3 level scoring big and multiple guards who can get into the paint.

3 more years for not even 28 million a year. Put another feather in Brian's cap :st-lobt2:

DevVP :st-lobt2:
