Player The "It's My Time" Busted Clocktower of Devin Vassell

That part exactly. With Fox, Harper and Castle being ballhandlers, Devin not having to dribble the air out of the ball should benefit him (in theory). That way he can save his energy for the defensive end. Fox and Castle being point of attack defenders would make Devin play more help defense, which is his strength.

Offensively the PGs should allow him to play off the ball more and be a catch and shoot threat. Add into that that Devin can put the ball on the floor when teams close out on him as well as abuse bigs on switches and he could be a high end 3-and-D guy in the league. Again in theory. Gotta see if he can actually play that role efficiently and move well enough off the ball.

Devin putting it together would basically fix our starting 3 spot. I don't really like him as a scorer off the bench, cause Keldon seems to be that guy and both of them together are usually a defensive disaster.
:st-wakeup:

devin actually becoming a sniper…now over 40% from 3
I think this isn’t really surprising. When he takes a good shot in rhythm, he’s just one of those dudes who you think will hit it every time. The question was always if he could stop dribbling and stop pump faking out of good shots. He still does the latter in the most bizarre ways but overall he’s doing very well.

These last few games are showing us how important Devin has become to our offense. Teams are blitzing us on the three point line and clogging the lane. We need someone who can hit tough mid-range shots and Devin has been excelling in this area. That release valve gives the team a lot more space to get other shots off and more room to operate. Get well soon Devin.

Yeah, I reluctantly have to agree. His absence is more deeply felt than I would have thought. Our offense certainly looks better when he's out there....even if he's not one to tear it up defensively.

We are missing Devin SO BADLY right now.
I'm not willing to call that yet. Let's just wait and see what happens when he comes back. Maybe we are, but I want to see if things start getting better again after he comes back.

Can't believe to say that we are so desperate in need of main character vassell :st-lol:

For sure Devin is buckets especially when their offense is struggling. When is he coming back?

Sadly it’s another year where he’s struggling with injuries. As usual our organization is so hush hush about everything that we don’t know when he will be back.

As much as I'd like to see him back, his track record with injuries isn't good. Hopefully he's not in and out of lineup the rest of the season.

He was on his way to playing 82 games and now it's getting close to being under 70. That's not a short injury.
A short injury is like Castle last year where he missed one game.

Vassell should be considered “injury prone” at this point. Too many years with too many problems, especially for a guy who isn’t particularly physical and this year has not been asked to push the limits of his body.

Lots of reasons to pump his value and find another home for him - even this year. We don’t need Devin’s shooting. We just need competent shooting

You have a decent point. I'm not trusting his injury history/status/availability when it counts going forward. He was on his way to erasing some of that doubt this season, but again, looks like he's play under 70 games.

The other thing is, he usually plays terrible coming back from injury. Look at last season, he was basically terrible a lot of that season and it was speculated he was recovering from the foot injury a lot of the season. Hopefully when he does return, it's nothing like that this year where he struggles the rest of the season.

What's the cut-off for short? Because we're at game 8 now with no indication of when he might return.
yeah because we had 3 back to backs during that stretch. He's now been out for 18 days, but did on court work since January 10th in Boston. This injury takes 2-4 weeks, Devin was back working out 11 days after. They just ramping him up slowly. like the Spurs always do.
