Player The Burgeoning 3&D American Sign Language Consulate of Carter Bryant

I don't understand why Carter didn't get his usual 1st half minutes today. Don't like that call by Mitch.
Yea especially when champ, barnesand keldon played like crap today. The coach should been able to tell it wasint'
there night. To least give bryant a decent shot to show something.

Ten makes for an awkward rotation and and a shooting/spacing starved team needs to prioritize Barnes over Bryant, even with the former struggling or declining rapidly.

Bryant is shooting over 40% on 3's over a very large span now. I don't know why change a rotation that was working just fine. Don't fix what it ain't broke, tbh.

I made the same comment. It is especially weird given how NY was killing the spurs on the boards

It was the same against detroit

I think Mitch is preparing the playoff rotation in theses big games. And CB will not be in the playoff rotation this year

In retrospect, he was "hurt" by not winning the Dunk Contest - his trajectory was really ascending before then, and the swagger/recognition would've helped cement a spot in the rotation he was beginning to own. But it's been looking like his confidence isn't the same since, he missed a lot of 3's against Toronto/Nets? and hasn't really seen the court much since.

Sucks that he's on the outside looking in, because the team really needs to move on from Barnes as a dependable rotation player. He's just a TOSB if his 3 isn't falling which is like half the games now. The Mr 100 moniker sounds like a mockery now :st-lol:

I still say they should be starting him in the first quarter and 3rd quarter and go from there. If he plays well, give him more minutes, if he doesn't, bench him.

The Spurs' PF position is WEAK physicality wise. I like Julian, but he's a bit short and doesn't bring physicality. The Spurs need to start off games by setting a better tone. The PF slot and lack of physically is a real weak spot for the team. I think Carter brings more physicality to the spot.

The Spurs are literally the second best team in starting games:

Again, fans want to trade one win for five losses. Do people think when teams lose, they lose gracefully all the time? Every team will have its weakness, it’s all about the way you execute. If you limit turnovers, play hard defense, and stick to your offense then there is always a high chance to win. The Spurs should reduce the times they beat themselves. That’s it. That’s the only change needed.

Anyone else find it curious that CB is icing both knees for 48 mins/game when he doesn't play? KJ is a big knee ice, too. Just wondering about a 20 yr old's knees.

I still disagree. I think starting Carter is a better choice long run. How are they at the start of the third quarter?

Like I said: it makes no sense to cut his minutes once it seemed like the game slowed down for him. For all we know, he might be a better option than Barnes for a rotation spot in the playoffs.

Keep playing him every game and if he does well, increase his minutes. Don't cut him out of the rotation just because.

I think people are delusional if they believe CB will be an asset in the playoffs.. He should be a change of pace type of player, if we stink up the joint, but he's not gonna lock anybody up, they would just go at him and hunt for cheap fts.

Disagree completely. Just because he's a rookie, doesn't mean he can't contribute in the playoffs over washed up vets. Dylan should be getting even more minutes than he's been getting, but I have a feeling he's getting less simply because of the fact is that he's a rookie. If you're better than some of the vets on the team, too bad for them. They shouldn't just have spots in the rotation no matter what. Spurs have won a Championship before when they benched certain vets and went with the young guys, so you can't say it hasn't been done before.

If he can be a "change of pace type of player" in the playoffs, then he's already an asset, lol. A non-asset is an unplayable guy...

Besides that, there's just no reason to believe he won't contribute. Sure, trial by fire and picking up some dumb fouls against the veterans of the league? That's unavoidable. But, over the course of a 7-game series or two? I absolutely can't imagine that he's not making up for it by playing his gritty, physical defense every minute he's on the court.

an unplayable guy is also an asset, he can foul 6 times.

Why? What makes you say that? What would make Bryant get hunted more than a Harrison Barnes, for example?

No, an "unplayable guy" has more negative value by their presence on the court than the "positive value" that their 6 fouls can bring. They are literally un-playable.

If they can be an asset, even those stone-feet 7 footers teams put on the bench to foul Shaq, then they're playable in that circumstance.

Thankfully Carter Bryant is quite far away from any "unplayable" word mincing, though. Don't understand why you're hell-bent on dismissing tangible contributions from a promising rookie tbh

I am very very happy we are moving on from HB, but I believe he is still slightly better at the moment because CB has not polished his movements yet. Whenever he gets passed the ball, he widens his foot to make sure he catches the ball right. Then when he moves (on both sides) his direction is mostly either too wide or sometimes too sharp. Too sharp means ft merchants galore while too wide means defense collapses. Nothing out of the normal, but it is very visible.

Yet, ever since turning the corner, his defense is more impactful than Barnes'. Also, CB is shooting over 40% from 3 in that span. I don't know how anyone can see this (now, very long) stretch of basketball from Bryant and simply dismiss the idea of him being a positive contributor in the playoffs.

Thinking about a starting lineup of Harper/Castle/Devin/CB/Wemby in a year or two tbh
