signing Plumlee off the scrap heap and then having him inactive for 3-4 weeks because he wasn't "conditioned", and also having him out of the rotation and borderline unplayable... why?

its amazing work to have 5 centers on your roster and only 2 of them can play. its not like you need a worldbeater 3rd stringer. but someone you can trot out to go grab some rebounds and not be an absolute nothing paint protector should not be some overwhelming task. like... if you badly want someone to be a vet presence, go get a DeAndre Jordan. if you want somebody with a bit more mobility, Nick Richards was being shopped around. you want a more well rounded type, jock landale was had for cash considerations.
 
Harper and CB will be good players. But VJ putting 30 and 10 (in the game 2 win against BOS) as a rookie is amazing.

It seems that Harper and CB still can be hesitant or hang their heads after bad plays....maybe that is due to being on a team playing with high stakes.

But VJ playing more freely in a "weaker" team seems more 'advanced' than Harper and CB now. Or maybe it is just VJ has more of the mamba fearless mentality

Not trying to discount anything about Edgecombe, but I think the fact he has played 2600 minutes in the NBA compared to 1500 for Dylan and 800 minutes for CB has a lot to do with his confidence and feel for the game at this point. If you swap out VJ for Dylan on this team, I don't think you'd be seeing the same VJ as you're seeing playing for PHI right now.

Olynik isn’t going to take a buyout. Why would he, and why would the Spurs cut him and pay him, as opposed to keeping him and paying him? They had already cut loose Sochan. Did you want a 13 man roster instead of 15?

As for Plumdog, he had groin surgery around New Years, and was still in recovery mode. That doesn’t happen over night, and even when recovered, he has to return to game fitness.

How long is the normal recovery period to bounce back from being completely washed?

Asking on behalf of 20% of our roster.

as for KO, if he doesnt want a buyout, and you have 0 intention of him seeing the floor for even a minute of competitive play, then waive him. what is the purpose of keeping him around? i dont mind having roster fodder like McLaughlin or Waters because there is a world where those guys could see minutes, if we have injuries at the guard spot. but even with injuries at center, KO/Biyombo are unplayable.

so find somebody off the scrap heap who you could conceivably play for 3-4 minutes in a game. if there were no buyout players available, then shame on them for not pursuing guys like Landale or Nick Richards.

Plumdog still looks no better than Biyombo even after all his recovery. what was the point of that signing?

Plumdog WAS the scrap heap, and we signed him.
 
no sense in crying over spilt milk, as long as wright makes adding front line depth a top priority.

yes thats the problem. when it was clear that biyombo/olynyk were unplayable, there should have been a more concerted effort to picking up a 3rd big other than another unplayable big

How did VJ play against the Spurs? I don't recall him going off in the games against us. It's only two playoff games. Too early to go off saying how great he is compared to our guys. Our guys also have the added pressure of people calling them a legit contender. VJ has no pressure at all. People probably aren't even picking them to get out of the first round.

Hey, we're not just crying about it now. A few of us were talking about it BEFORE the trade deadline. Spurs FO had their heads up their asses and we have the right to call them out about it. They should have done it this season. No idea what they were thinking.

Landale was had for cash considerations. Nick Richards was given away so the Suns could get below the tax line. Charles Bassey was a free agent. DeAndre Jordan was chilling as a vet on the Pelicans bench.

if they did make calls, they could have gotten any of those guys

Such a standard excuse tbh. They have plenty of solid 2s to trade. If they wanted to, they could have gotten a deal done.

be interesting to see how bryant (and harper) react to a playoff environment on the road. bryant seems to be the one player on the squad who visibly demonstrates his nerves.

Before the 23 lottery, it was estimated that the winning franchise would increase in valuation by $500M.

We won. Other teams were probably pissed, like 29 of them.

No one is going to help us build our dynasty team. No one is going to do us a solid. If we want a decent player, we’re going to have to give up one,and not from our bottom 5 players.

Landale isn’t any better overall than what we have, just greener grass. He was here on our tank teams. Nuff said. Nick Richard’s is a complete dumbass who you would hate if the Spurs actually acquired him. Bassey was here on a three year unguaranteed deal, and was cut after one to create cap space for something. He was then re-signed for one year at the minimum. Not a great show of faith, and he moved on, or maybe both parties did. Theresa reason DeAndre Jordan is chilling on the bench. All you have to do to get him off the floor is put him in the pick and roll, and get him switched onto a perimeter player, something that happens dozens of times every game.

You are one of those people who always thinks there’s a solution,but that’s not the way the world works. It’s a conundrum, because anyone who fits your profile of a player is not going to want to be third string here. He’s too good.
