I keep thinking about the Boston game and why Brown got so heated for what should've been a technical foul and something he should've moved on from afterwards. I think him pressing the issue and doubling back at the ref was a calculated veteran move to get him ejected. We know he's been complaining for months about getting no calls his way but I think this did two things for him and Boston that Vic can learn from going into his first playoffs.

Brown knows there's a good chance they could face the Spurs in the Finals. Both teams are good enough to make it. That being said, I think this outburst gives them the upper hand for calls with the refs. I think he went this hard so that the refs will give him "superstar" treatment if they meet in the Finals. It also allowed the Spurs to not get a good grasp on how to defend them with Tatum back, who should be at full stride, if they make it deep into the playoffs. This game didn't give us a good feel on how to defend them both, along with Pritchard, by him getting tossed.

I say Vic can learn from this because far too many times he doesn't press the issue with the refs about getting fouled. He literally got slapped in the face on that drive and just got up and walked away with a slightly bloody nose. He should've been yelling at the refs about that no call so that he can start getting respect for those fouls. I know Pop told him not to complain and Vic is big on "ethical" basketball but all of the greats put pressure on the refs to make a call. He doesn't have to do it to the degree of crying on every play like Luka but when he got hit in the face, he should've yelled at the refs to call a foul to the point where he received a tech. He can't continue to just get up and run back to the other end like these fouls don't affect him. Especially once we get into the playoffs.

Getting deliberately tossed from a game because you want to gain an edge against a potential finals matchup and don’t want to show your cards in the day and age of franchises having video crews dedicated to scouting players would be one of the most moronic things ever.

Only person who might think this is a good idea is Scottie Barnes.

I think you're over analyzing it tbh. Brown wasn't playing some kind of 4D chess in case we meet in the Finals, he simply lost his shit and had a tantrum in the moment.

Do agree that Vic does need to learn how work the refs more though
I could be wrong. But something tells me he's going to get a lot more tick tack calls if we do meet. Especially with how aggressive Castle is on defense.

Or he could’ve gone on those refs’ bad side forever and fucked himself. As per the stories of past nba players.

The game was meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Perfect time to do it.

The Big Brain move that no one needs, lol

Brown was depriving the Spurs of data sample size to analyze for a gameplan should they meet in the Finals. No Vuc and 1 half of Brown keeps SA as uninformed as possible.

Wemby is 10th in the league in FTAs @7.2. He should be getting more but he’s not not getting any calls.
Yeah a 7'5 big man 10th in the league tells all you need to know. Despite him shooting a ton of jumpers, he still drives a ton most games.

Brown is just a bitch. This is pretty much par for the course with him.

Victor is 5th in FT attempts per 100 possessions behind Doncic, SGA, Avdija, Zion. He just doesn't play as many minutes as the other guys above him in raw FT attempts per game (Jokic, Harden, Banchero, Booker, Ant)

that’s a pretty bad way to throw a tantrum on a clear good no call. If anything it confirms to the refs that he’s just a whiner.

The minutes played definitely makes sense.

Jaylen Brown just doubled his free throw attempts his very next game. Kind of proves my point.

Wemby sits against Denver with a sham ankle soreness injury and Tatum sits against OKC with an unknown injury, which again proves my point that no team is showing their full deck against potential Finals or playoff matchups. Laugh all y'all want, I know what I'm talking about🤷🏾‍♂️😂😂😂

I never discount what anyone says. Yeah, some people are wrong sometimes, but I still try to look at it from different angles.

In this case, I don't think it's what Boston is doing, but I can't say for sure that it's not. Maybe you could be right. I just think they wanted to rest him to make sure he's OK as OKC aren't known for playing gentle defense against opposing team's best offensive players.

OP why would the refs be more inclined to give Brown more calls in the Finals since he acted like a bitch in the Spurs game?

I can agree with your point that you made. Especially with Dort being the nasty player he is. I could definitely see him targeting Tatum.

Because that's kind of how that works. Coaches do the same thing when they throw tantrums and get tossed, then go to the media afterwards. Their team usually benefits. Star players run these league, not the refs. Also you can't dispute the fact that he doubled his FT avg the very next game.

I say all that to say this, Wemby and Mitch need to complain more to the refs to get him more calls. Especially going into the playoffs where they'll be beating him up a lot more.
