Player The blessed howl's moving Castle of Stephon Javonte

Brings the ball too low when he starts his shooting motion from 3. It's why his midrange and pull ups look better because the motion is more compact. It's coming around though for sure.
Still looks better than Harper's low arch, janky release.. If i have to bet right now, i think Castle will be the better shooter of the two and he's already money with his FTs and 3 FGA in the clutch, which is a good sign.

Agree to disagree tbh :st-lol:

I actually think Harper's form looks a lot better and more fluid while Castle's looks like he's making sure a lot of things go right before the ball gets out of his hand. I'd honestly be shocked if Castle nets out being the better shooter long term tbh.

No comment on this guy's 30 pts triple double?

Because it was a loss....

If we have won, I am sure Windy, Stephen A, etc will praised Castle as future all star and being the 2nd Captain behind Wemby.

Btw who was defending Murray and let him get loose for 39pts? I think I saw Castle was on Joker for awhile

I had the game on on my second monitor so I wasn't watching every play closely at all. Did Castle spend a lot of time guarding Murray? Anyone watch closely who he guarded throughout the game? Mitch putting him on bigger guys has got to stop.

Good luck trying to guard one of the best scorers in the league that's constantly running PNR with Jokic and you're mostly playing small, without any rim protection.

This guy is better than parker ever was.

They didn't have a lot of bigs, you know. And Murray went off in big part because they had to focus so much attention on Jokic.

He played a really awesome game and I wish it would have been a win so it would be talked about more. I am not going to use a specific phrase about his 3 point shooting but I will just say he is shooting it with confidence and it is looking good. Has cut down on turnovers for the most part but still makes a few lazy ones from time to time.

His vision and passing remain elite... his efficiency and reduction in TOVs as not surprisingly come with Fox handling the ball more... it's looking good.

Where do you see that Fox has been handling the ball more? I went here and plugged in dates from beginning of the season to first of this year and first of this year to today and usages look like Fox is handling it less than before.

As has been discussed at length at ST and here, USG doesn't measure time on ball - it only measures how frequently a player finishes a play with a FGA, FTA or TOV.

What you're looking for are possession stats which you can find here: https://www.nba.com/stats/players/t...easonSegment=Post All-Star&dir=D&sort=TOUCHES

We can look at Pre-ASB v Post-ASB and see that Castle is handling the ball considerably less (which is also apparent by just watching the games). Post ASB you can tell the Spurs have made a point to not have the ball get stuck in ISO dribbles like it was to start the season. Castle is moving the ball a lot quicker and Fox's Time of Possession per game is now ahead of Castle's. Both of there ToP has fallen though, in part in the rise of Harper's and in part because they are just moving the ball faster overall.

Pre-ASBPost-ASB
Castle Touches per Game69.956.8
Castle Time of Possession5.23.9
Castle Avg Seconds per Touch4.454.18
Castle Avg Dribbles per Touch3.763.37
Castle Pts per Touch.237.295
Fox Touches per Game69.257.8
Fox Time of Possession5.14.1
Fox Avg Seconds per Touch4.384.22
Fox Avg Dribbles per Touch3.933.79
Fox Pts per Touch.281.310
Harper Touches per Game45.350.8
Harper Time of Possession3.33.7
Harper Avg Seconds per Touch4.324.33
Harper Avg Dribbles per Touch3.884.03
Harper Pts per Touch.240.241

I was genuinely curious what you were using…. I’ll dig into these numbers, thanks.

When I made the statement, I was just using the eye test. It's been standing out to me that we're getting faster passes, less ISO and that time on ball had shifted away from Castle a bit.

We really selected Jimmy Butler 2.0 with better playmaking and without the baggage in the worst draft in 20 years :st-lol: ..Castle will be All-star in '26-'27 and second best payer on the team. Calling it now

I don't want to navigate the ST wasteland in it's current state, but people kept laughing at me when I said his ceiling is somewhere between Jrue and Jimmy.

Just look back at the draft thread when people wanted Reed Sheppard or worse though Dillingham would be better than Castle lol

Everyone who is rightfully praising Castle now, but was calling for Fox to take a larger role and upset at Mitch earlier in the year, should go ahead and eat some crow IMO.
