Misc The abandoned East European server room of LJ and Kori Ellis

The speed of this forum is quite nice...
Not enough traffic right now, but new posts are dynamic and you can load them without having to refresh the entire page.
Will be great for game threads.

OHHHHHH my first opportunity on the new forum to correct an exstatic misstatement!

Larry Ellison owns Lana'i (looking at it from my office window right now), not Kaua'i.
Congrats scott

I found this place when I googled "What happened to Spurstalk?" . I'm not an SEO guy by any stretch, but that may be a way to help others find baselinebums.com. I had to scroll down quite a bit. There was first a ton of stuff about what happened in 2016.
Same here. Google AI points you here if you ask about SpursTalk

I found off of the Spurs reddit forum

We need Ace, Bruno, Baseline Bum and Dejounte in here.

Dex, Ice009, FkLA

Wouldn’t even mind some of our non Spur fan posters like djohn or Lkrfan.

thank god it's one of my fav classic ST avis lol

 I do like a lot dat avi... dat staring down look remind me Tony staring down at Danny. It was agame against Brooklin with Pop saying to Danny to shut the fuck up. I need to find dat clip

Hey y'all! Finally found the new forum - glad to see you TOSBs on the other side!

I'm very surprised at Spurstalk's sudden demise and Kori's answer (or lack thereof)..... Not because of the forum, but because the whole of spurstalk.com has been down for weeks now. Didn't they have some dedicated writers to push content there? Surely they can't all have vanished with no trace?

It's especially puzzling considering we're going into maybe the most hyped and promising season in the last what, 10 years? With lots of Spurs related content being pushed online.... Very strange timing.

BTW - who's the site admin here? Is there a way we could recover the old emotes from ST? They had so much more character than plain emojis... Though I guess you can't have everything in life.

I’ve been beating the “They are no longer involved in ST” drum since I got here. If they were still involved/owning the forum and domain, they would care about, and be involved in server management. If they were involved, they would have said something like, “Yeah, we’re working with the server guys to get the forum back up”.

It’s been about two weeks of nothing, so I’m officially coding the SpursTalk forum. It’s dead. I had a tab open, and would check occasionally to see if it was up so I could start a redirect thread, but I closed that tab this morning.

I emailed Kori about buying the domain name 3 days ago. Nothing.

I mostly lurk but would make a wisecrack here and there. I am here now. I couldn't find the old cat photo for my avi.

What the fuck guys? Why didn't you let us know you were here? How thr fuck am I supposed to get my spurs fix without ST? REDDDIT!?

After two weeks of the server being down i finally used stalkgpt to track you down haha.

I was taking a break actually so the first time I noticed it down was when Harper got injured and I thought the news broke the site haha. Well feel better knowing the gang is still farting around at least.

PS this server seems to run infinitely faster than the old shitty server. Nice job.

Yeah, the extended silence while the page is down is a death sentence - they're obviously aware of the effect that prolonged downtime on a niche, low-traffic forum like Spurstalk would have. You can't be disappearing without a trace and leaving your 20+ years' regulars pissing in the wind.

It was apparent that LJ stopped giving a shit about the forum sometime after COVID hit, but even in his absence, the activity and content posted to the Spurstalk website itself was reassuring.

I still can't believe that they (or rather the new owners) have 0 incentives to bring at least the main website back, on the cusp of the Spurs' most exciting season in a decade. There's still a lot of traffic and ad revenue to be made... If they cared for it.

It's wild to me how many people apparently ignored the repeated links to the private Reddit group where we explicitly said we'd gather there to regroup in the event ST went down :ROFLMAO:

I despise reddit as far as comments/discussion goes, but I bookmarked the subreddit just in case and that's how I got here after ST went down for good.
