Misc The abandoned East European server room of LJ and Kori Ellis

Hopefully it pops up long enough to make a thread title with this web address. I’m sure a lot of people are unaware of this place.

We should keep an eye out for the spurstalk domain name expiring and scoop it up and have it redirect here.

If anyone could reach those two I’d be interested in just buying the domain name. This platform is obviously far superior.
Check you PMs I will send Kori's email addy.

Surely that Kori account is a troll. Like you have to purposely be trolling to be asked the same questions and for clarification over and over and purposely not give it while dropping in and leaving cryptic stuff behind just to annoy people 😂

I'll give ya $10, a third round pick, and a pack of Doritos for the domain name, final offer.

Random account making the server update topic on spurstalk was the greatest troll ever, tbh.
Iirc, it was a few years old account, not active at all, just posted about server update and never replied again.

It's funny to think about it like that but I think D23 (I think that's the username) is legitimately the person who is in charge of the IT things on ST. Before that was Slomo.

RIP to them

It’s my thought that they’ve already sold it. If you owned the domain and forum, you would definitely be involved in server issues. I think they’re out, but some part of the sale agreement may be that they just can’t say that outright for a period of time for fear of a mass exodus.

We're talking about a semi-obscure internet forum here, not a multi-million dollar business.
Timvp still doing player grades and making topics while ignoring everyone especially doesn't add up.

I’m not saying they cashed out, and bought Kauai from Larry Ellison. They may have just been tired of it, which would track with LJ’s non responsiveness. He did the game grades for the website, which has always been a separate entity from the forum, and may just have been sick of all the bitching about them. At one point, the grades were only going up on the website, and no thread was being created unless a forum user did it.

Hey scra, nice to see you here. Got a new PC a few months ago and can't find my avatar :(

that sucks... I had lost my avatar too but a quick google search has been enough to find it again

This really doesn't make sense to me. Even if you have delegated the responsibility of the servers to another entity if you own the domain you still have the ability to fire them if they are not performing. They may have sold ST with an agreement to do a certain level of activity to help drive traffic. That would make a lot of sense. However, then whoever bought it just kicking it to the curb seems illogical. Surely ST has some value. However, if the liabilities were more than the value of the domain it might make sense to just walk away. If that is the case one of the creditors might eventually gain control and try to do something. That could easily take 6 months or longer. RIP Spurstalk. We can bury you next to Spurs Report.

OHHHHHH my first opportunity on the new forum to correct an exstatic misstatement!

Larry Ellison owns Lana'i (looking at it from my office window right now), not Kaua'i.

I find it hard to believe that ST alone would have the kind of liabilities to require secured debt... but perhaps the owners of the site (if that is Kori and LJ or some other unnamed entity) may have personal secured debt of which ST is part of, but I doubt a creditor is going to be looking to run a Spurs message board as a way of recouping their losses lol

I think they own the domain name and outsourced servers and maintenance to someone else who had the time or maybe a connection. That way they don’t have to mess with server management etc.

If I had to guess that person probably dropped the ball and isn’t responding or ghosted them. Just a guess.

I emailed Kori and asked if they would be interested in selling the domain name so we can redirect it here and keep the community together.

I hope she or they respond.

Maintenance? Iirc that version of vBulletin forum was close to 15 years old.
Noone did shit for at least a decade other than paying for the domain and servers.

Well, no argument there.

The community is already here. Think of this as a litmus test that might weed out some of the idiots.

We just need to change the theme, get some more regulars in here and in a year noone will remember spurstalk.
Especially since posting in game threads won't take 30 seconds of loading.
