Misc The abandoned East European server room of LJ and Kori Ellis

Shit I remember a time before Spurs Report. I remember the ezboard days where most people from Spurs Report migrated from 😅

Saying that, quoting a Dusty Garza tweet on this board deserves a five day ban lol

I think I found SpursReport when Rivals crapped out. Rivals was pretty fun. Lol

I was on ESPN boards around 2002. Jesus the stupid was real
Hey those ESPN boards were prime places to be for game threads. I burned through so many accounts during the 2011 dicking Dirk gave the Heatles in the Finals. I think my longest lasting username was "Chris Quinn is RC Buford's illegitimate son".

Shit, I remember having them at my house to play poker, meeting up to watch games, etc. And then poof... it's just all gone.
The last GTG I remember (barely) was for the Super Bowl at coaches corner. Mouse and I got completely faded, and I wondered if I had just seen Janet Jackson’s nipple, or was I just that high.

The first thing that comes to mind (and I don't wish this at all) is a divorce. ST is the type of thing would completely get abandoned under those circumstances. I mean this is where they met.
I was thinking the same thing. There may have been some life-changing event that would have placed ST at the very bottom of the list of what's important.

What's weird is that timvp (or was it AImvp) was posting grades even though it was obvius it's only a matter of time before the forum goes down.

And it is totally fine, I just don't get why not create a thread saying we cannot run the forum anymore, we will shut it down in x weeks so people can organize themselves to take it over if possible or create a new place like this one with everybody knowing where to go to get their Spurs fix... I mean how hard can it be ?

No one on these forums knows Timvp personally and can reach out to him?

Hes going to find himself in a strange spot if/when he reopens Spurstalk with a replacement forum already in action. If Spurstalk comes back do we trust it enough to go back at this point? There was a serious lack of communication about the sites issues.

I bet most will go back to posting there if it returns. But we should at least spread the word if so because we know it will eventually go down at some point and at least we have a backup plan in place now

I’ve been unhappy withe the garbage level of toxic misogyny and homophobia that’s been allowed for a good while now. Not sure I’d go back, but that may be an academic question. It looks dead.

yeah, it could get pretty disgusting in there sometimes. racist too.

There is no reason to go back. I’m guilty of being a loudmouth there but mostly to shout back at the fucking stupidity that never seemed to end.

The platform is seriously outdated and the servers couldn’t handle significant moments during the season and offseason. That will likely never change.

This platform can be upgraded and improved on as this place grows and the interface is much smoother and enjoyable.

We’re missing maybe a couple dozen good members. I would think they would much prefer a place like this that isn’t going to stand for egregious behavior than to go back.

If that place ever resurfaces we need to hold the line. The more of us that refuse to go back the sooner the others will come our way.

I get what you're saying but part of STs appeal is the lack of moderation. No one wants to read a bunch of racist nonsense but we could just choose to ignore them. I'm not advocating for racism/homophobia/etc but at least those people show you who they are and you know they're not worth your time

I get it though. I know I've probably said stfu faggot my fair share of times. I try to refrain from saying shit like that anymore though for the most part

It's a thin line... one of the reason ST is/was so popular is/was the freedom to post whatever you want. The only forum that went over the board is the political forum imho, the stfu faggot and such on the other forums are 99% with 0 homofobia behind same with black QB, point is not about color but style of play etc... Now if you are new and you read all dat shit, I understand you get outraged but posters of more than 10 / 15 years history know better. I personnally cannot stand 99% of the reddit, realgm... posters who take themselves way too seriously and yell at clouds all the time... so let us not transform this place in another moderated bs forum. I read ST because I love my Spurs and let's be honest despite all the shit we throw at each other we have damn good posters and because it is freaking entertaining... Let's hope we can keep balance

We can be something different than both Reddit or that cesspool that ST became. I think that Spurs takes shouldn’t be moderated. I also think that if you can’t express those takes without resorting to racism, misogyny, and homophobia then go back to ST, and wait for it to restart.

I think the Wild West approach by ST probably offput potential new members, who were few and far between the last 8-10 years.

I think Scott’s don’t be a dick guideline is the right path.
