Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

They needed him to get past Dallas and their big man cadre. Mavs won’t be a playoff factor for a while, and IHart is a huge burden on the OKC apron figure.
Which is what makes it confusing. They can decline the option on Hart and be right at the borderline of the first apron next season, but if they take money back for him they're straight second apron next season. Unless they just wanna move him for expirings and picks.

Even with his decline I'd rather keep Barnes than add Huerter tbh.
Barnes was going for Aldama...Huerter was for Sochan and filler. I also think we should send Waters + 2 2nds to nola for Alvarado.

Aldama, Huerter, and Alvarado would cover alot of holes in different lineups. We can add more shooting or perimeter D as needed and Aldama addresses weakside D and rebounding.

Would still rather cut Chicago out and work a trade around Olynyk/Sochan/2nds for Aldama tbh.

The reason I didn't do that is Memphis doesn't want anyone salary next year for the JJJ extension and they wouldn't want to take on two roster spots.

Chicago- Olynyk + Sochan
Memphis- Barnes + 2 2nds
Spurs- Aldama + Huerter
I could get behind that. Huerter has been uneven the last two years, but if he sucks, let him roll off. If he shines, sign him to a 2-3 year value deal.

The issue is that everyone who can do all those things costs a lot. Both in assets and cap space.
I disagree. The LAC got Jollins for a SRP this past summer. I mean, if he wasn’t such a defensive minus, I’d go for KLove as a shooter/rebounder.

That was last summer.
Right now there aren't many realistic tragets for us.

This is a very around the edges trade
Spurs send Sochan and a 2026 2nd rounder to Detroit
Pistons send Paul Reed and Bobbi Klintman to the spurs

Nothing earth shattering but doable. The pistons like defense we need bigs, works for both teams.

Well, if you shut your eyes, cover your ears and go LALALAL, there aren’t.

There are ALWAYS players on the margins, or teams wanting to slide under one or the other aprons,or flat blowing things up. Every year, there are a couple of teams that look around at the trade deadline and decide to go into the tank. You have to shed talent, and quickly.

Brian should be agressively searching for ways to turn our mid 30's % 3pt shooters into high 30's/40's % 3 pt shooters. Our lack of reliable 3pt shooting is our biggest weakness right now.

Imagine how this team would look if Vassell, Champ and Barnes would shoot closer to 40% than 35% on 3's.

Mitch is too far down the tottem pole tbh.

SAS Out - Jeremy Sochan, Bismack Biyombo, 2 2026 SRP's (Worst and second worst from SAS's 3 this year, currently 43 and 46).

CHI Out - Jalen Smith

So here we were two days ago talking about how Dylan is getting nowhere near enough court time and then turn around and trade for Simmons when we need front court players?

Mazulla and Sochan are never going to happen. Joe needs high IQ players in his system. That's one reason why Simons is not a good fit there. Detroit could use Simons though. Aldama/Bey/Jalen Smith are still the players I'm looking to add.

There are no minutes for an additional guard.
The Spurs need shooting as much as they need front court help. If it happens to come from a guard so be it. Also, if Dylan were a more consistent shooter he’d definitely be averaging more playing time, but that will come with experience.

And to be clear, I’m not advocating for this deal just saying it’s not categorically crazy.

you won't get Aldama for second rounders. There are already reports out there that multiple teams called Memphis, they would at least want a first round pick. I'd offer ATL 27, but the Spurs won't do that right now

Why do people persist in this false narrative that Sochan is a low IQ player? He's not. He just doesn't have the skillset that works on the team anymore.

Your point is fair but there isn’t anyone I would take minutes from to give to him outside Harper and I don’t think that would go well benching him.
