Khris Middleton is probably the guy we want
I was thinking their natural pick this year which currently stands at #20.Yabu has a player option for $5.8MM next season, which he'll undoubtably exercise since he's nothing more than a minimum player at this point.
Seems like it would be an unforced error to trade for him, unless we're getting some draft compensation (like upgrading some seconds into a first).
Edit: NYK's FRP is not tradeable. They have WAS top-8 protected that will inevitably turn into WAS's SRP this year and next, so it would be kind of pointless to do a SRP-for-FRP pick swap unless we're getting a future Knicks first... but I don't see why the Knicks would be interested in that.
He's been completely washed for a couple of years now.Khris Middleton is probably the guy we want
Hey, I'm available too!Khris Middleton is probably the guy we want
After witnessing the passionate dislike for Kelly in DC, it would be hilarious if this swap happensKhris Middleton is probably the guy we want
Personally, I want Klay (I've mentioned him before). People are likely to say he's washed up and doesn't play much defense anymore, but I'm still interested. I feel he could really open up the floor, and I feel he's someone that might be able to give the young guys some shooting tips they can take with them for the rest of their careers.I still think Klay or even a MJP trade should be in the Spurs targeted phone calls. I think Barnes, Olynyk, Sochan and a top 8 protected pick, perhaps altantas, for MJP would be ideal. For Klay it'll be Olynyk who is expiring.
We're not getting him for just expiring contracts and I'm not giving the Mavs their swap back.Personally, I want Klay (I've mentioned him before). I know he came off that way, but IMO, Klay can bitch all he wanted to. He was responsible for some of their biggest high pressure wins in the playoffs on the road in OKC and Houston. They guy came to play in some of the highest pressure games in the Warriors Championship runs. If I was a fan of the Warriors and he didn't want to come off the bench, I would have been cool with it. He did a lot for that franchise. I did think he was a bit of a dick, but he's the guy I respected the most out of their Championship core. They're at least a couple of Championships light without him. I didn't like Curry's celebrating, I didn't like Draymond's antics and I didn't like KD. Klay the only one I had respect for. He’s kind of a dick, though. He was injured and missed two seasons that GS had to pay him. He bitched about coming off the bench during his recovery, and then didn’t like GS’s offer, so he took LESS to leave and go to Dallas. Seems like unnecessary drama for a player who really only has one skill. His formerly stout defense is just a memory.
So what do you think it'd take to get him? I thought they'd want to get off his contract. You saying they'll want picks on top of the expiring? I wouldn't give the swap back. I'd only give up second round picks, so if that's not enough, I guess we can't get him. If he was younger and could still play defense, I'd give up the Spurs own first, but not in his current state. We're not getting him for just expiring contracts and I'm not giving the Mavs their swap back.
At this point I don’t take him over Champ and it seems that’s where his minutes would come from. Vassell either.Klay Thompson would increase this team’s bball IQ by a lot
Draymond was equally a part of the GS dynasty, and I don’t like him either.I know he came off that way, but IMO, Klay can bitch all he wanted to. You’re washed. You have a debilitating pinched nerve. Broken goods.Hey, I'm available too!
And decrease their FG% while increasing opposing FG% by a lotKlay Thompson would increase this team’s bball IQ by a lot
For what? He shot 28% from the three last year and is at 31% this year. He's like a 34 year old Malaki Branham.Khris Middleton is probably the guy we want
We wouldnt be able to get their natural pick without sending back a first either this year or next year since that could leave them without a pick in back to back years. They do not own their own in 27 and Was may not convey this year if it fall between 1 and 8.I was thinking their natural pick this year which currently stands at #20.
Like we did with Thad Young: Swapping a second for a late first from TOR.
He's having an awful year, Dallas would jump at the chance to get rid of him for expiring salary and trim a year off the money they owe. We're not getting him for just expiring contracts and I'm not giving the Mavs their swap back.
Yeah Champ's a way better player, though you gotta wonder how much of Klay's dogshit play this season is from being a malcontent after the Doncic trade, thinking he signed up to a title contender and instead having to chase lottery balls. If the Spurs have a deep playoff run gotta expect at some point Vassell is going to be hurt though. At this point I don’t take him over Champ and it seems that’s where his minutes would come from. Vassell either.
I definitely get the allure but he’d take away from two very impactful players.
He's been better as of late. He's having an awful year, Dallas would jump at the chance to get rid of him for expiring salary and trim a year off the money they owe.
I think you meant to say, "it's a wash," between Middleton and me.You’re washed. You have a debilitating pinched nerve. Broken goods.
Their pick is not tradableI was thinking their natural pick this year which currently stands at #20.

If you add Murphy the 28-29 cap is a mess. Without Murphy and assuming Steph continues on the max contract trajectory he is on and the Spurs sign nobody else due a salary in 28-29 and draft nobody, assuming yearly 7% growth in the cap, the Spurs 28-29 cap sheet looks like:go for Murphy. Barnes+Sochan+Spurs 26 (Atlanta swap)+Atlanta 27+two other FRP
Dallas won't want the extra year, but the Spurs are in no danger of hitting the aprons next season so that extra year is pretty irrelevant to them. He's been better as of late.
Over the past 8 games he's at 16ppg on 48% (!!) from 3pt with almost 9 attempts.
But yeah, I wouldn't want that extra year.
Or we can make a run for it this and the next season before Wemby's extension kicks in and then start making sustainability moves. If I'm trading for Murphy it has to be for Vassell, matching salary, one good first (eg the ATL ones or ones with swaps), and one bad first at max.
