Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

I'd be about as excited for this as I would when we acquired Noah Vonleh for a fake second rounder...
Yabusele is basically Olynyk on defense. I don't see how he gets minutes when everyone is healthy.
If this is actually happening, I hope we're trading Olynyk for a shooter or even a third string big.

Let's hope it's a bigger deal and we're just being the enablers since the Knicks are obviously trying to trade KAT.

I agree with your assessment... but yeah, I'm not going to get excited trading one guy who doesn't play for another guy who doesn't play. I don't care much for Sochan, but I'd rather just keep him than trade for Yabu. At least Jeremy seems to be a good locker room presence and is a frontrunner for the Zach Collins Spurs Towel Waver of the Year award.

Plus, we already have too many frenchies on baselinebums, I don't want an influx of more of them

I'm not really interested in Yabu either. I'd be curious to see who the suitors are in a KAT deal though. Maybe we could get something from the other side of it..

Darn, I'd have next to no interest on a trade like this now. I used to want Yabusele last season before I saw how bad his defense is.

Yeah in agreement with others regarding Yabusele assessment so far this year.

Hereis hoping spurs having something larger in store

Watch Knicks trade Kat for Zion with us involved sending out Sochan and Olynyk and a pick for one of Herb Jones or saddiq bey.

So much of this rides in how MATFO feels about the shooting upside of castle and Harper. If they felt both of them can work up to average shooters or better, then I’d say them and wemby will be clear foundational pieces for the next decade, so all trades should keep this in mind and keep assets that would allow them to have cheap high end role players (read Hugh floor rookies) to cycle through.

However, if the view is that they are who they are and they are not long term foundational pieces then the focus would be to trade one of the two and get a big piece in return that would’ve foundational, and forgoing future flexibility if need be.

I’m in the former camp and think we should be looking at the Hausers and the ellises instead of the Giannis or even the Trey Murphys.

on one hand im glad theyre looking at the PF position on the other hand im disturbed that they view yabusele as anything resembling a solution

Exactly.
We can't afford to have bad shooters at SF/PF, that's where most of our issues come from.
Even if Castle/Harper become better shooters, you still want them to attack the paint and if we don't have the right spacing, it's never easy.

Man what is the deal with Dumars? Maybe the league should stay away from any of the former "bad boy" Pistons in front office positions. Recall Zeke Thomas being awful although if memory serves, he at least was pretty good a drafting. (someone will correct me if I am wrong)

The Pelican's don't have a true backup PF, but have plenty of hybrid C's and big wings to cover the position, so not sure why they'd have interest.

Also don't see an obvious trade. Hawkins works, but the Knicks are already too guard heavy.

This doesn't surprise me. The rumors for a month now have been that the Spurs would be interested in a roster upgrade only as much as Sochan, KO and SRPs.

Im wondering who that could be. I mean if you want a terrible defending big who shoots great from downtown, just go get KLove.

Like the trade but whom would we waive since its a 2 for 1 ? Dadiet or one of our guys
Personally I'd waive Dadiet if this came to fruition. I'd also waive Biyombo and sign Bassey, but Brian Wright has yet to call and ask for my opinion :st-lol:
