Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Wonder if the Pacers would be open to moving Obi Toppin. He's been out for the year thus far but might be a nice pickup heading into the playoffs and next season if all it takes is Olynyk and/or Sochan.

I mentioned Toppin a while back. Despite Waller's struggles this season, with how cheap Pacers ownership is and their need for a C, I could see them looking to dump Toppin's contract.

Toppin and Bradley for Olynyk and Sochan works. Maybe the Spurs add a 2nd(s) or whatever.

Do the Spurs want an actual PF though? They've mostly played a big wing or combo forward at the position for years or occasionally went double big.

This game is for all the Jarice Walker enthusiasts

People still scoffing at tradng for TJ Salaun? Hes been looking decent of late.

Micah Potter for ??? +4 and 50% from three against the Big Elote and KO....😉

Dont think the knicks would give up this guy but would be a good big to get. Ariel Hukporti

him + Yabusele for Sochan works neatly as a trade. If we're not trying something more ambitious with KO's contract this would be a great one to pursue.

Knicks are motivated to get off Yabusele's contract and we could put one or two 2nd rounders in if necessary.

Avdija will be my fire all my bullets at, but he is unavailable. At a lesser extent Keegan Murray. Then Trey Murphy. They are only the difference makers that I think can be obtained with a big offer draft captital package.

Just other names to consider.

Power Forwards
Grant Williams (eh but would contribute more than Socahn for this season only)
Bobby Portis

3&D
Naji Marshall
Max Christie
Saddiq Bey
Herb Jones

Specialist
Kevon Looney
Klay Thompson

Personally Klay for Olynyk and Waters is the most cleanest deal but the mavs have so many PFs, making a deal for Naji, Max, or Klay unlikely.
I don't think the Mavericks really care about roster construction. Dumping Klay's money for next year and doing right by a vet with limited years may actually be enough for a tanking team.

Sochan for Asa Newell

There was concern about his 3 pt shooting during the draft but he's shooting well in 11 minutes/game
FG 57%
3 pt 49%
FT 55% (needs to be better)

I don't expect his 3 pt shooting to stay that high with more playing time but he has bettter shooting form than Sochan and a higher potential
He's a better fit with the quicker running guards on the Spurs as he's athletic enough to run with the guards and a good finisher around the basket.
Atlanta loves Newell and won't be moving him for Mr. Sochan.

In all seriousness, Spurs liked Hachimura when he was coming out in the draft. You can hide him on a C like Jokic and brings some much needed shooting/size to the front court.

I'm only semi kidding about Sochan sucking but the Lakers badly need another POA defender. I know he's just Vando 2.0 but if anybody can bring anything offensively out of him, it's probably Luka and Bron.

A trade with the Lakers revolving around Rui and Sochan makes sense to me. Mostly, because Sochan sucks and I want the Lakers to get him tbh :st-lol:
We'd have to trade both Olynyk and Sochan for Hachimura, which would cause even more frontcourt rotation issues because Hachimura is basically a younger Barnes, while being even more passive and inconsistent.
Horrible rebounder for his size.

I'd be more interested in Oubre since Sixers need to shed ~$9M worth of salary to drop below the luxury tax line. I doubt they're interested in paying it while out of contention.

Just look at the recent Spurs track record. It’s rare that they trade with West teams when they make major moves involving their players. Even the Fox deal had the key Spurs players going to Chicago.

It’s been Atlanta, Boston, Raptors (2), Chicago (2), Washington.

I have no issue with Olynyk/Sochan for Hachimura and taking a throw in like Knecht back.

I also don't see the issue of incorporating Hachimura in the rotation if needed tbh. You just give him all of CB's minutes and cut down on whoever is cold during a series whether it be Champagnie, Vassell, or most likely Barnes if needed.

Young enough that I'm taking a chance on him to be your starter at the 4 heading into the next few years until Bryant is ready or they bring in somebody better.

I just want somebody beefier than Oubre whether it be a Rui or Obi Toppin type that you can in theory hide on a guy like Hartenstein if needed. I feel pretty good about our wings tbh.

When was the last time, if ever, that the Spurs dealt with the Lakers in a trade? I just don't see it happening.

Between Sweeney and Williamson's coaching stops there is a ton of great intel on players in the east. I'm trusting our team to make the best move possible, if any at all.

In that case we'd need to find another big elsewhere because we can't be left with Biyombo as the only third string big.

My issue is that as I said Hachimura is a horrible rebounder for his size and someone who can't stay focused.
If our coaching staff thinks it's because podcaster is a shitty coach, then fine, I'm onboard with taking a flyer on Hachimura.

Free agent forward choices are pretty bad next summer.
Tobias Harris
Oubre
Wiggins
Hachimura
Fontecchio
Dean Wade

Hachimura might just be the only valid starting PF target, even though I dislike him for the above mentioned reasons.

I'll just keep hoping we can get PJ Washington with the Mavs swap we own if they decide to blow it up and get some assets back.

That's likely the biggest impediment besides teams probably having little interest in Sochan tbh.

PJ Washington would obviously be an ideal target but I don't see the Mavs doing us a solid like that.

Yea kinicks laugh and hang up on that. Might be able to do it for Our(hawks) first next year.

Wright will go down as the greatest middle-man in NBA history by the time he's done.
We should nickname him The (trade) Enabler.

Hopefully we get a useful bench player from one of the inevitable big trades.
I've praised him for that before and I don't rule out it could be a useful path going forward, but Spurs should aim a bit higher than that. They have a real chance to make noise in the playoffs, the same recipe that led them here might not be enough to take them to the next step in their development. We can't expect another Barnes to fall into our lap, Brian will have to keep dialing until he comes up with something.

Probably bad timing after the Atlanta game, but it's not like he's got a track record that would justify that price tag. Maybe NY would hang up, but Spurs shouldn't try to force anyone's hand, particularly for a player who hasn't proven much of anything, no matter how great his first name might be (Hukporti's) ;)

Sochan can only be traded for other similar disappointments. Everyone knows he’s lousy at this point. Yabu is as good as it would get imo. Which works for me.

Because of Hukporti? Are they that high on him? Because previous reports suggested Knicks were willing to give away an SRP just to offload Yabusele
Yes. Give it till the end f this year and you will start to see. As long as he stays healthy next year should be his breakout year.
