Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Yes one step back two steps forward, you can’t make those steps until you get under the apron. Sometimes you have to cut bait, just make sure it is not Luka Doncic which it is not. The Cavs have a mismatched roster, they need to try to send Garland to the nets. Then trade for a guard like Anthony Black who facilitates, defends and rebounds.

Like football teams do all the time with their hard salary cap same type of situation with the 2nd apron you stop gap with less talent to add more talent later on

Seems to me that the best landing spot (both for Jeremy and his new team) for Sochan is one of the BKN-WAS-SAC of the world. Somewhere there isn’t a lot of pressure where Jeremy can put up numbers as a rehab project to demonstrate nominal improvement and be flipped later.

There is a fair case to be made that Jeremy can be a player one day, he just need more developmental time (yes, some players are late bloomers) but the Spurs, or any other playoff team, are not the place for him to get that developmental time. And if he can’t salvage something in one of those low-pressure environments, he’ll be out of the league.
BKN - what’s Claxtons contract look like? His game is 8’ in but he’s better than Bimbo and could probably give us some nice interior defense when our other bigs are out injured.

He’d be a nice lob threat too.

Nic Clayton makes $25M. Bit pricey for 3rd string.

Honestly, for 3rd string, you really can’t pay more than minimum. Maybe we can get someone on a buyout.

Do we prioritize rebounding (especially offensively) over shooting, if we make a deal? I think acquiring another center is top priority. If Kornet were to miss time, we'd feel the turbulence.

What do you think Wembanyama would fetch in a trade, given that the Spurs have been winning without him/ or with him and very limited minutes from him? Maybe a starting center AND a starting power forward and some draft picks? Sick of watching the Harrison Barnes mediocrity, he was always the worst starter on GSW when they had him back in the day before Durbeta.

Don't do this ...

As others have said Spurs need a legit third big. Cleveland lost today so the Dean Wade market improved a tiny bit today.

This team could really use a 3rd string center, because you never know when Wemby or Kornet may go down or be out for rest. If that happens we're really in a bind, because Biyombo isn't going to cut it. I'd start looking at the G-League and see what other teams have as far as big men, maybe even bringing up Micah Potter from Austin on a two way (I think Mangas is just temporary). There are options, rather than just sticking with Biyombo. (Whoops ... just read Indy just signed Potter from the Austin spurs)

Mangas is already gone.

I wonder if the Spurs could poach Santi Aldama from Memphis if they continue to have bad injury luck and embrace a tank year.

If the thought is Sochan doesn’t fit with this roster, Spurs probably looking for a vet to back up Barnes. How does Fathead v1 Kyle Anderson fit with this squad? Good passer, some toughness, decent defender, high basketball IQ player stuck on tanking Utah. Maybe he is cooked, I haven’t seen him play for a couple of years…

I just need any indication that the Spurs are interested for me to fire up and take a "There is Dean Wade to the Spurs Buzz" thread to 100 pages.

Why not? All options should be considered while striving for a championship. Trading Duncan or Manu in like 2010 or so was on the radar.

Theoretically, it might be possible to get a Herschel Walker like haul for a low-longevity player who likely doesn't have 10 elite years left in the NBA, if 10 years at all.

I watched the Knicks- Cavaliers game. I think Mitchell Robinson ate Wade for breakfast and got some more offensive rebounds to digest his meal. Don't know how Wade helps over a putrid Sochan.

I haven't watched him in years, but isn't he another player that has no confidence in his three point shots and passes up shots?
Yeah. He hasn't taken a 3 ..even attempt in a long while. Seems to have the yips. Don't think he is coming back to the Spurs.

Whoa, that's even worse than I thought. Thanks for the update. No chance he'd be back with the Spurs then.

Fathead wouldn't be getting a lot of playing time obviously, he'd be a Sochan replacement for the rest of the season tbh. Flip Sochan for a future asset, take on Fathead for a late 2nd.
