Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

What would be the realistic cost?
NOLA can't ask for a FRP, but SRPs probably won't get it done.
They have no reason to trade an important rotation player who has another year on his cheap deal for nothing of value.

I think they'd be justified asking for an FRP from a playoff team (or a protected FRP from a fringe team)... but I agree with you, they really don't have anything to gain by trading him unless they get an FRP.

I really wonder what the Dumars-Hawks negotiation was like. Did NOP just offer an unprotected pick straight away? Could they have still gotten the deal by offering Top 4 protection? Even as good as Queen looks, still just a shocking trade. The outlook on the Pelicans would be so much different if they even had a 50% chance at a Top 4 pick.

But with that said... even if Bey moves to the bench with Zion back...

yeah that's one of my favorite scenarios as well. The problem is he just had somewhat of a breakout game against the Rockets and they are starting to win games. He would fit right in, especially since he can also handle the ball.

I'll have an incredibly homer take and say that I'd be happy if this is our long term roster as long as young players continue developing on their optimal trajectory.
Which would mean Bryant replaces Barnes and becomes the 3-D PF we need. He certainly has the size and athleticism.
Then it's just working around the margins, having a couple more solid shooters off the bench and a high energy third string big.

I think we'll witness a lot of meltdowns in here over the next few drafts since Spurs will likely trade down or kick some more picks down the road if their preferred targets aren't available.

People say that contenders should take older players that are ready to contribute, but we don't really need those end of the bench guys.
I think we'll take the OKC approach and look for long term replacements for our older guys that aren't necessarily ready right away.

I don't think it's likely Spurs trade away any of the rotation players except DJG or Bryant if he fails to develop, meaning there just won't be minutes for rookies.
Trading those picks for future ones might just be the best thing Spurs can do.

We just can't fit anyone else in the rotation unless they can play as big forwards.

The only way we trade away any of Fox/Vassell/Keldon/Champ/Kornet is if they fail in multiple playoffs. Won't happen before 2027 at the earliest.

IMO, Spurs would be foolish to pass up opportunities to improve the team thinking we are set. Keeping adding talent, because again as OKC has shown, depth is extremely valuable. If you run into a situation where you've created a roster jam, then you flip guys for picks.

I like that approach. I wouldn't move off of this year's pick as deep as this draft is, but 2027 I'd be pretty interested in moving it for future picks.

Justin Champagnie is interesting. Signed through '28 (team option) at the minimum. Small ball four, excellent rebounder and defensive play maker. Sub par shooter, but at least has a functional shot.

The Wizards don't have a four and have been collecting second draft players, so maybe they'd do him for Sochan.

Spurs could just send them Biyombo. His salary ain‘t guaranteed, so the Knicks can waive him and cut their luxury tax bill. Pick up a 2nd round pick and trade it for more cash

It becomes partially guaranteed at a certain date if I remember correctly. Not sure what the exact details are, but I read those somewhere in the offseason. Bismack is on a smaller salary anyway, so he‘d save them money regardless.

I'm not sure about him anymore. I wanted his last offseason and the one before that, but I don't know what has happened in NY. Is he not good enough to stay on the court? Can he not play defense or fit into their defensive and offensive schemes. Is it just an attitude thing where he wants more minutes, but isn't getting them. The Spurs would have to defer to Victor and ask Victor what he thinks of him. If they attach a first round pick I'd may do it, though. Not sure if it's worth it for a second round pick if he can't help the team at all and might makes things worse and cause chemistry issues. Really tough call as I don't know what's happened in NY to put him on the trade block.

Also, what happened to Topic? I thought he was supposed to play this season for the Thunder? Edit: Just read he had testicular cancer, so don't worry about basketball. Hope he is alright and gets past it. Sounds like he's doing good and on the way back.
