I think they'd be justified asking for an FRP from a playoff team (or a protected FRP from a fringe team)... but I agree with you, they really don't have anything to gain by trading him unless they get an FRP.What would be the realistic cost?
NOLA can't ask for a FRP, but SRPs probably won't get it done.
They have no reason to trade an important rotation player who has another year on his cheap deal for nothing of value.
I really wonder what the Dumars-Hawks negotiation was like. Did NOP just offer an unprotected pick straight away? Could they have still gotten the deal by offering Top 4 protection? Even as good as Queen looks, still just a shocking trade. The outlook on the Pelicans would be so much different if they even had a 50% chance at a Top 4 pick.
But with that said... even if Bey moves to the bench with Zion back...
