Game Thread Spurs (58-18) @ Clippers (39-37) (Thur 4/2/2026) [9:30PM CDT]

Salvaged a tragic ending with that last sequence, 5 points in the last 13 seconds, Kawhi shot too early! Hopefully no turd quarter this time. Don't let up!!!!
As much as I have, ahem, harped on the Spurs for mismanaging the clock at the end of quarters by shooting too early, Number Two did us a solid by showing us exactly why it's a bad idea.

Have the ball leave your hand with no more than 2 seconds on the clock. Someone like Victor should be able to ensure that since nobody can truly challenge his shot.

Yeah, lots of bad things can happen when you shoot too early, even if you think it's innocuous, like what if the other team is in the penalty and you miss and commit a random loose ball foul with like 0.3 seconds left going for a rebound?

Bill was priceless as an announcer. “ throw it down, big man!!”.
My favorite exchange was
Walton: "The Clippers are surrrrguing towards the playoffs!"
Other announcer: "Bill, they were mathematically eliminated two weeks ago."
Walton (without missing a beat): "What about an at-large bid?"

This can't be word for word accurate but it definitely happened and made me laugh pretty hard. A classic Waltonism.

i dont ever wanna see that Barnes Keldon lineup without a big 😆

at least play CB if theyre going ultra small

about time Lopez played more like his normal self

great game from Fox, Castle and Harper

Pretty spot on, tbh.
Yeah, i would say now that a healthy Suns team with Brooks is the more dangerous matchup. I also think the addition of Garland has killed the Clippers' defensive identity. He is simply too exploitable for our guards..LAC were more built for the playoffs pre-trades.

And then rookie Amare dunked on the whole team. Oh yes I remember.

That era never averaged 120 pts per game. Early Spurs with DRob even had them scoring in 80’s with their defense
That was sort of late DRob-105ish for the early 90a then around 94/95 it dropped precipitously with the 99 season being the nadir. It had gotten so grabby-
Along with people actually having organized defenses

Pretty sure Fifty Mills was the starting PG the last time I saw them win in person tbh. :st-lol:

The Streak is Over!

Harper really stands out when watching him live. Such a nasty combo of size, craftiness, and strength, they just didn't have an answer for him. Top 10 in the league upside.

He's what turns the Spurs from a really good team to a championship contender tbh, super lucky to have him.

What I especially liked last night was Castle having no fear going toe to toe with Nephew.

Also that play at the 2 minute mark is so high IQ. We need to continue getting high IQ players.

Do you mean when he cuts on the screen at 2:11? That's the sort of thing they did at UConn a lot and probably why they wanted him in the first place (at UConn). He immediately sees where the defense has overplayed. I mean, it's a wrinkle that's already included in the play, which is why Luke sees it, too, but this is why I've loved Castle. The way he turns immediately into the lane, he's so smart he knows it's there already. If someone comes in from the wings to help out, he gets to immediately kick to their shooter. He's a really smart and instictive player.

I think Mitch deserves some props he has gotten better as a HC as the year has gone along he will still make some mistakes still but he has been better with rotation, timeouts willing to make hard personnel decisions like moving Barnes to the bench etc etc
