Yeah I do get it, but it remains a contradictory narrative regarding the Spurs - literally nobody expected them to be a top-2 seed before the season, yet we're not in the running/favorites for an MIP, nor ROTY, nor COTY; Wemby likely won't get MVP, and he was the only All-Star actually selected for the team, since Fox was an injury replacement. The only award we're likely to win is Keldon's 6MOTY, and it's hard to say he's been a
major reason for our success this season (though obviously a factor).
So it's a bit like... Nobody's growth was "really surprising", yet the team's play and dominance absolutely is, but just not enough to be actually rewarded

it's just funny. I don't dislike it, feels like it keeps the team hungry and with a chip on their shoulder, but the media hypocrisy is whack.
