Game Thread Spurs (51-18) vs Suns (39-30) (Thu 3/19/2026) [7:00 PM CDT]

Awful last shot but I'll take the W. There won't be any easy first round matchups for this team. Folks need to be prepared for Spurs to be down 1-2 in a series to the Clippers or Suns..Even the mighty 2014 Spurs did
Spurs could very well get crushed in the non-Wemby minutes this playoffs.

Phoenix is giving us tons of problems, surprisingly on defense. Kudos to them. Don't really want to face them.

I can see how these last 2 games against the Suns played out turning Dillon Brooks into a superhuman against us in the playoffs. Him sitting on the bench witnessing this after saying that he has Wemby/Spurs number. Stuff like this fuels him. He might go nuclear but bring it on. We have to be ready for whatever is coming in these playoffs. Nothing will be easy. I’m excited!

Fleming looks like a really good player, notwithstanding the missed free throws at the end
I am kinda glad he got off the bench just cuz I like it when players I was high on pre-draft turn out. Lil' dopamine kick. My main reason for not wanting him ahead of Bryant was he didn't really play very smart basketball... and as a Spurs fan I know that can be difficult (tho not impossible) to correct. But he's a beast and if the 3pt is true, he's gonna be an effective player.

Bryant, who I was ecstatic was still available for us, has already exceeded my expectations for the first year tho. I really thought that dude would be stashed in Austin.

I'm also glad he was off the bench late enough to have to take those free throws. WTF were they thinking? Spurs played that perfectly tbh.

This was a perfect way to clinch the playoffs. Playing from behind all game, it had Loss written all over it from the way the game was going. But they found a way.

Every team in the playoffs will be tough, but the spurs are a really good team with the best defense. This is going to be fun!

Vic fadeaway two at the buzzer. I'ma call it! I'ma call it!
Darn bro, you called it and nailed it. I thought it looked a little off, but it was nothing but net!

Again… NO Brooks who gives Wemby problems, no Grayson Allen who hits 3s and trips people, no Royce O’Neal, no Mark Williams and there might be a 5th player they were missing. I really hope you realize that all those guys didn’t play
Pretty much. It wasn't an impressive win. It was an impressive game from Victor. Suns were missing a lot of players. Spurs never showed up for most of the game. They lacked focus, played sloppy and just seemed like they thought/expected the Suns will lay down.
I don't know if it's the right saying but the Spurs snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. That shouldn't need to be happening against a Suns team who is on the road missing a bunch of their players.

Sorry the Spurs should not have won that game they played like arse but we take it and run and Wemby with a clutch shot is great.

The team played most the game like they just expected to show up and win. The most frustrating part was a lot of the bad unforced turn overs. I hope Mitch tears into them a little in film sessions
Mitch wasn't exactly great himself. It didn't look like he had the players prepared at all. I didn't like his starting lineup. Just start Dylan in a game like this, see if he can get a rhythm going. Give the kid at least one start. Get off to a better start. Attack from the start. They missed Steph's attacking the rim and PG playmaking to start. Dylan could have provided some of that.

Luka scored 60
lol. What a way to bring it down. Did he get 60 for real?

I wonder it Jeremy Piven at least enjoyed himself. He can tell everyone here was there for the game winner.

ACTUALLY no. Suns were DUMB as hell for not doubling Wemby as the clock went down. Got super lucky. No clue why they didn’t double. Goodwin wasn’t guarding ANYONE in the middle
Suns decision is theirs, that doesn't diminish what Victor did. Coach probably asked his players to leave no one open, which makes sense. Did you see who was on the court?

What a goddamn miracle. The Spurs had no business winning this game but Victor willed the team to the W. Amazing.

Wemby +18.
Spurs were -17 in 13:09 he wasn't on the floor.
Concerning, tbh.

:vic-cheers:
This is the puzzle that Mitch will have to figure out because Kornet will be eaten alive at the basket on defense and offers nothing on offense except an occasional dunk, put back, or free throws!

NGL that win was probably better than a 20 point blowout. The team feeling out playoffs atmosphere less than month before it starts for a come-from-behind victory is much more valuable than a stress-free affair. It will also have them respect the Suns-- that team plays hard and is well-coached.

Unbelievable how many shots rolled in for the Suns and rolled out for the Spurs. That's what it took for this to even be a close game.

That shot reminded me of Timmy over Malone!

This was an amazing win. Loved it at the time. Was cool seeing Kevin Willis get hyped with the shot and the win. Steve Kerr was hyped up too.
Mengke! What was the translators name? Was it Jimmy Chang? That guy was awesome too. I think he forgot to translate sometimes getting caught up/hyped during the games and wins.

A game/loss like this probably made Malone second guess that he has to leave Utah to go elsewhere to have a chance to win it.
