Game Thread Spurs (49-18) @ Clippers (34-33) (Mon 3/16/2026) [9:00PM CDT]

He’s got 22 pts, two 3’s, 17 rebs, 5 assists right now… we’ve got yaxel at home
hes been carving up the gleague all year. averaging 16, 12.5, 5.5

the problem is its not common for these undersized bigs without plus athleticism to thrive against lesser competition like college, gleague, or some leagues overseas. they struggle in the NBA

From a March 8th article:

Where Ingram, 23, wants to be is with the big club, playing the blue-collar role he said Spurs coach Mitch Johnson has defined well for him.
"It's rebound, space the floor, off-ball impact, and it's being, I wouldn't say a dirty player, but like a Dillon Brooks sort of player," Ingram said.

Looks like that’s what Mitch wants Ingram to become. Maybe he can be a late bloomer…

I value quotes like this because it gives us a peek in Mitch’s brain and we see how he wants to build the team. Again, more hints at what type of player that could be coming to the Spurs in the future.

Duncan was fouled on the other end of the court before that.
I don't remember, but my comment on that is of course he was. They don't seem to call those for TD. He was blatantly hacked at the end of Game 7 regulation in the 2006 playoffs against the Mavs. He should have had two free throws to win the game and the series, but they don't call that for TD which I don't understand when it is that obvious and blatant. I understand they don't want to decide the game like that, but you can't let obvious/clear hacks like that go.

Wemby, Castle, Fox, Devin, Champagnie, Keldon, Kornet, Harper, Bryant, Barnes. That's it. After that, the talent on this team drops off a cliff. All roster spots from 11, on could be turned over to G-Leaguers, and the Spurs would be no worse off for it. Jones-Garcia would have made this cut sans the ankle injury, but it's hard to tell if Mitch shares that opinion of him. Hopefully Plumlee can at least provide some smart play, and be a bit of an enforcer when called upon, but yeah, at first glance he looks kind of cooked.
Very interesting about DJG, as when he did get to play a game or two and looked good, Mitch didn't play him again the next game. I wonder if that's because Mitch didn't trust him or if it was the games limit for G-League players playing a part in that?

Luckily in the playoffs rosters shorten, so having 10 guys who can play is probably two more than you need in most playoff games. Health will be key, as the backups to our backups pretty much suck.
Yes, I still liked the Spurs having extra depth. OKC are overloaded with it, but as you said, in the playoffs, the rotations do shorten a little bit.

I do wish some of our end of bench guys were at least intriguing but its an apocalyptic wasteland down there with Biz, Olynyk, Lindy, Jordan and now Plumlee. Even our 2 way guys aren’t what i’d call interesting (outside of DJG before his injury).

I expect we’ll see it addressed this summer. I would love to see some younger guys with the potential (and hunger) to actually challenge for rotational spots.

Funny that Micah Potter was a camp cut and yet has actually been a plus player for Indy this year. Wish we had kept him instead of literally anyone I listed.
I really wanted the Spurs to try and upgrade some of those spots before the trade deadline, but not what happened. If they just couldn't do it as no teams were willing to trade them anything they wanted for what they were offering, or if they thought they don't need to make a move due to either liking their roster, or not actually believing they were ready (I hope it wasn't because of the latter).

As for Potter, he seemed pissed when he played one of the previous games against the Spurs. It looks like he was good enough to make the roster. I'm pretty sure Scott also mentioned him as someone they should sign early on in the season. Looks like he was right about Potter being worth a shot. He's better than some of the deep bench players the Spurs have :(.

And I agree with Scott about keeping Lindy at least a bit longer. He's also the only guy I'd be interested in coming back. OKC and GSW both had him for a bit and if they liked him enough to have him on their rosters, it's worth the Spurs giving him a bit more time. I trust his shooting and would like to see how he'd do with some more court time with the regular roster/rotation rather than those garbage time lineups.

i probably value JMac higher than Lindy. we do have 3 guys that can play PG ahead of him, but its still a more valuable skillset. and i think pound for pound id rather have JMac defending another PG than i'd want Lindy defending a SG
Who do you think is the better shooter between the two? Even if JMac is a PG, I'd still go with the better shooter and I think it's Lindy. I would not have a problem with brining Lindy back if he's the 14th or 15th guy like Scott said. Just can't be 11th or 12th.

I wish HI was a little bit taller and little bit more athletic. Would have been worth a roster spot. Not sure if he can make it with his physical deficiencies against legit NBA players.
You think it's worth giving him more time?
