Game Thread Spurs (48-17) vs Nuggets (40-26) (Thu 3/12/2026) [8:00PM CDT]

I really would like that #1 seed as it's gonna be a bastard to win two games in OKC in a hypothetical matchup. Hard to believe the Spurs could sweep the home games against them. Only way I'm staying content at #2 is if Minnesota and Denver lock into the 4-5 seeds as beating OKC on the road, while a tall task, is probably not as tough as having to beat OKC and one of Minnesota/Denver.

We could play OKC in the middle of a Klan rally and I’d like our chances tbh.

no he wont. He doesnt have the stamina or the body for it. We have to establish another lineup for when he is out if Kornet going to play like a pussy. I say its CB in small ball lineup
Huh? They rested/load managed him the whole season for what? To rest him again in the playoffs? Lmao you stpid fck tbh.

Kornet is such trash, playing like a fourth stringer wtf
Kornet was signed only as Wemby's back up. His strong early numbers was a bonus. But the team clearly does not prioritize size even as other teams are moving towards playing 2-big lineups. This may be due to Pop's legacy guard-centric playbook and the scouting team's clear lack of interest in drafting big men.

I didn't watch the game but I don't think this loss really will affect things in the standings especially with OKC defeating Boston. I think the Spurs are stuck in second and will finish the season in second place since OKC is on a mission to win out all of their remaining games.

Like another poster said - I’ll settle for 2nd seed and hope Minny and Denver settle on 4-5 seed.
No matter what, the path out of the WFC will be difficult!

Who cares about personal awards? I’m far more concerned with how awful our big rotation is after wemby site. Kornet is playing like a fourth stringer right now.
I do and I bet Wemby does. 2nd seed is locked in almost, there’s literally nothing to care about aside from health rather than Wemby’s personal awards that have been long overdue.

Sucks to lose after having a big lead but we've won more than our fair share of games where we made late comebacks.

I was a proponent of cobbling together some 2nd rounders(attached to one of our expirings) for a live body big or 4 because all of my fears about Kornet are becoming a reality and we knew after the first 3 games that Biyombo was done done. Kornet is awesome when healthy but the dude is made out of porcelain.

I get Wright using this as a litmus test year (akin to OKC 2 seasons ago) but we are flush with 2nd rounders, some actual insurance against Wemby/Kornet being dinged up made sense.

Carter Bryant only getting 9 minutes when he was playing well and we spent a lot of time playing small ball feels wrong

The worst part is that he never really does anything wrong to get pulled. All he does is produce at a high level every time he's on the court and bring energy.

Not sure what else he needs to do in order for Mitch to trust him tbh.

Anyone expecting Wemby to be playing 36+ mpg in a potential playoff run is going to be disappointed. The guy hits the floor 10 times a game, that adds up.

Yeah would have been nice to use him when Keldon was playing like absolute trash as well.

Wild Mitch didn't run with him at the 5 when Denver went small to start the fourth. Really thought he'd go to it and the Spurs would blow the lead up to 20 again.

Until he gets exhausted by game 4 because our bigs die in the non wemby minutes who have all gotten worse as the season went on.
. Thers is no back to back games in the playoffs. And when the regular season ends there is 5 to 6 days off before the playoffs start. There is plenty of time to rest even during the playoffs.

Lmao there is plenty of time to rest during the playoffs. No back to back games. And beside they already load managed wemby. So he is fresh for the playoffs.tbh

You don’t get it at all, wemby is going to be run ragged if our bugs are DOA every time he sits. Playoffs are going to be way way more physical, wemby is going to be run not the ground. He is not going to do 38 minutes every other night

Honestly, even when we were up 20, I kept thinking "they can still come back."

Because they had their MVP candidate, and we didn't have ours.

It's hard to close out games without your best player. The offense naturally becomes more desperate and uncoordinated.

Would much rather have Houston in round 2 if they even Make it that far
