Game Thread Spurs (45-17) vs Clippers (30-31) (Fri 03/06/26) [8:30 PM CST]

This was a great win for the Spurs. I think psychologically the Spurs needed to know they can survive an onslaught from Kawhi and weather the storm in which they did. They were able to get crucial stops against Kawhi when they needed to get them.
Yes he had beats 9 straight times.

What a fucking game. Wemby dominating in limited minutes. Champ single-handedly turning the game around, and then almost choking it away. Fox doing Fox things. And Carter Bryant showing off how terrifying this team can be on the defensive end when he an Wemby are manning the front court.

I read this thread after the game, and it’s almost as entertaining.

Oh, and Kawhi is still a bad man. I think he was pissed about everyone glazing Castle as the best perimeter defender in the league.

yeah i do think he exerts so much energy on both sides...we really have never seen anything like that. i can see why his ass is exhausted. we say just 21 minutes, but he does not take plays off on defense...what does peak Wemby look like? he's only going to get better
Yes, and the defense system requires Wemby to constantly cover a ridiculous amount of ground. I worry this isn’t good for Wemby long term.

If Wemby really is feeling as bad as he's saying and he isn't exagerating for the sake of theatrics, then it is worrisome. 22 year olds shouldn't have such a hard time playing 60 minutes over a two days span.
I dont think you have grasped what wemby does on every play - offense and defense…
He consistently - for 3 years now

Gets as good or better numbers than any other player in the league plus beats everyone in blocks hands down-
IN HALF OF THE MINUTES - of every other star

This isnt deandre ayton jogging up and down the court at 1/3 speed affecting nothing and no one and allowing multiple layups to boot

This is a superhuman forcing every team to choke on offense and panic on defense every second he is out there.

I suggest you watch the games and pay attention to fully appreciate the effort wemby is expending out there and then factor the past month on the road all over this shithole country and winning almost every game on that journey- to return home and play a back to back against one great team and one that was having a hot night of shooting.

I was at this game. It got loud in the arena. Felt like a playoff game. Similar atmosphere as the Warriors NBA Cup night, except we won this time.

What a game. but watching this shitshow in the first half was worth it and when CB converted that alley oop I shouted out loud!
Props to Julien for stirring the comeback.

On the downside - I am really worried Castle will get unplayable in the playoffs. His offense is putrid.

Bruh. We just saw Castle dominate Cunningham twice in the past two weeks. This was the second night of a B2B against the best perimeter defender in the NBA and another elite perimeter defender in Dunn on a team full of elite defenders that negate a lot of his advantages, and he still had 8 assists.

When and how did clippers get mathurin from the pacers?

LAC kinda fleeced Pacers tbh.

Traded Zubac for Mathurin who is playing better than expected and LAC will get Pacers draft pick if it fall between #5 to #9
