Vic is precisely why we have open 3s by opposing teams at least half the time and that’s a tough pill to swallow for many. Of course he’s still an all time defender despite that, and saying he’s the reason for a major flaw on team defense doesn’t take away from that.Just got home from the game a few minutes ago. They played like ass. It seemed like Victor got caught in the paint leaving his man wide open several times. Hell that was a theme of the game. I’ve never seen so many open threes. Shit there’s five decent players + three Tulsa YMCA players. Just piss poor strategy, leaving these dudes open. That’s on the coaching staff.
The block by Castle was ridiculous, but Vic could not finish again. He missed several of those tonight. Castle did not play great until the mid fourth but I thought he was pretty damn good w/ great defense, and he made three clutch baskets in the last four or five minutes.
Devon and Jules were a 2 at best. I think this game they should’ve started Barnes so you could stagger Vassell and Champ. I thought that lineup with Jordan out there was atrocious in the 2nd half. I don’t know what Mitchell was thinking playing Fox and JM together. Keldon was incredible through 2 1/2 and then they stopped going to him. Fox was too passive. Like wtf. We’re paying this guy the max and the coaching staff is not telling him to go get buckets.
Glad to get the W, but what a poorly played game by us. To add insult to injury, we got stuck getting out of the Frost Center by a damn train.![]()
Spurs allow most of those open 3s off of offensive rebounds that result from players ball-watching off misses tbh. If they cleaned that up the 3-pt defense would improve drastically. That said, I don't disagree with the overarching point.Vic is precisely why we have open 3s by opposing teams at least half the time and that’s a tough pill to swallow for many. You need players to get to the space of the shooter as quick as possible and this is why I say that the best kind of players to surround Vic with are players who have optimal speed while having versatility. We do have a problem with shooting, but people are too far willing to ignore the other side of the basketball.
Rewatching the game now and it seems like Wemby/Kornet were more negatives after the first and Castle was more of a positive in the fourth tbh.
Said it right after the game, Kornet was a negative despite having 15 rebounds in 15 minutes.Rewatching the game now and it seems like Wemby/Kornet were more negatives after the first and Castle was more of a positive in the fourth tbh.
He would've had a positive impact if he didn't miss so many bunnies tbh. Left 8 points on the table by my count.Said it right after the game, Kornet was a negative despite having 15 rebounds in 15 minutes.
He's just too slow to stay on the floor against small lineups with 5 shooters and can't play unless he's scoring with ease on the other end.
We could really use Aldama or someone similar that has size, but is more mobile than Kornet to counter these lineups.
Looked extra beefy out thereKornet seemed extra slow tonight.
When Sean goes "oh, boy" you know it's a really bad play.Does Sean Elliott have the cojones to call Victor "Tragic Johnson" after his dribbling indulgences?
