Game Thread Spurs (33-16) vs Thunder (40-11) (Wed 2/04/26) [8:30 PM CST]

I agree with everything you say but I am willing to overlook it cause coaches have to grow into greatness just like players do. Nobody goes into a job with all the HOF badges.

But I do think there has to be some sort of clock to where the organization says if these types of traits aren't being shown by the coach by x amount of time we need to move on.

We focus a lot on players but there is no doubt that coaches often times hold teams back.

Pistons swapped coaches and went from all time losing streak to number 1 in the conference in two years...
Yeah, I said it a few days back, Mitch has until at least the end of the next season, regardless of his performance.
Which sucks because this team could contend with an elite coach and Wemby would be developing into the best version of himself.

Honestly, I can't wait for playoff Wemby. Dude has less than half the shot attempts Luka or SGA have, but he's so efficient and a monster on both ends. I shit on him wanting him to be the GOAT already, but him, and the Spurs, are playing with 1 arm tied behind their back. His minutes are constantly limited because they're being careful, as they should be, but if he averaged the attempts SGA and Luka had, or even just close to it, he'd be the MVP without question.
Nah. There are games where he shoots 20+fga with 28-35% shooting and games where he had 15FGA with 50-60% shooting but play limited minutes thats why he rarely scores 30+pts.

The drum gets rolled out but all the sudden Jaden McDaniels and Santi Aldma walk out onto the court at the Frost Bank Center holding drum sticks while the PA announcer declares the trades official

The fact that they're the number 2 seed is the only reason Wemby is in the "MVP" conversation but he is nowhere near the actual impact of those in the top 5.
Pussy mindset.
He definitely is impactful. Even in a night where he seems fucking drugged, it is night and day for us with him on the court. We choke that shit tonight without Wemby's impact at the end, imho.

He just needs to finally mature and realize that all the shit he wants to do out there isn't worth it. Stop with the flashy bullshit and just focus on what works.

No Spurs Lead, a 19,20,30+ point lead, is safe from a Mitch Coached Spurs Team.
🤣
It's like Pop took a human, shoved all his worst coaching traits up said humans ass, and then promoted said human to head coach.

I swear there is a unreleased black mirror episode somewhere where Pop is just in a room controlling mitch johnson with a playstaion 17 controller.

And they play a combined average of 10 minutes the rest of the season while Barnes averages 30+ tbh.

I wouldn't say it was a terrible game defensively from us, it's just that our tactic to leave the guy open on the side was exploited as fuck by Daignault.

The physiognomy of the game made it that our players weren't playing serious, and their players had zero pressure to win so they just made their shots. That game wasn't serious or anything to learn from.

4-1 on the season against #1 seed OKC though. That's what I'm taking from this. The game was never in doubt.

If this was a playoff series…spurs were up 3-1 coming home to close out the champs…

The champs pussied out and waved the white flag and left their malingering pussy “stars” in okc and spurs closed them out …

This was also a preview of the western conf finals tbh…

Playoff Wemby better shoot better in free throws than he did tonight. That shit won’t fly there. He’s not the only one there, looking at YOU Castle.

Spurs are chipping this year.

I don't take anything out of this game. 2 games come to mind during the Duncan era that this reminds me of. One is when the Spurs decided to sit out the big 3 against the Heatles and nearly beat them but the Spurs still ended up losing to them in the finals. The other game it makes me think of is the time the Spurs sat out the big 3 against the Thunder during Kawhi's rookie year and beat them but still ended up losing to the Thunder that year in the WCF.

Spurs played down to the competition tonight.
