Sean Swinney will be the head coach next season

It is quite literally a blow out. I don't need to act like it. The score is RIGHT there.

Fire mitch because his blowouts aren't impressive enough is a hell of an argument. If me thinking that is incredibly fucking moronic makes me a sniffer, then fuck it, I'm a sniffer I guess.

You know, you don't have to keep making a stupid argument. You can just not post about a game before its over and you can just not decide to fire a coach before he's even had a chance. Its OK to just wait and see how things play out.

Blowout? How can it be a blowout if both teams close the game out with their strongest lineups?
Blowout means you get the job done early and rest the starters.

You know you got no actual arguments and are trying to strawman with calling this a blowout, embarrassing stuff.

Now you're just losing any credibility you had. Went from trying to make actual arguments to lvl0 strawmans within a few posts. Am I on ST again?

He's been in charge for more than a year now.

This game we're watching right now against a team desperately trying to lose is just embarrassing.
This game played out the same way a contender plays against poor teams in the NBA every day. Get out to a big lead. Relax. Game gets tight. The contender blows it open late. Nothing from today signifies anything about this team negatively.

Our core players need developing, not Waters and Olynyk, ffs.

Is this good development?
It’s always a tight rope when you’re trying to both win,and develop players.

Pop was grossly incompetent for years.

Mitch grew up under a grossly incompetent mentor.

We (only now) have empowered grown up assistant coaches in the locker room so our preparation and training has improved.

We have a JV coach who learned from incompetency being handed the keys to the car a few times a week. Sometimes he crashes the car. Because his instructor was playing candy crush instead of teaching him. But sometimes he makes it home safe.

Mitch might be swell in the end but this was a dumb decision. We can’t do more “learn on the job” stuff with this franchise. Why are we like this.

Wait for it
The issue is that even if everyone at the front office realizes Mitch has to go, they won't do it because it's not who they are.
They'd rather waste at least three seasons on him than ruin their family values franchise reputation.

why is mitch failing? i would say losing now is about finding out more about the team and continue to grow. I am actually not mad about the inconsistency i just hope the team is ready to make hard decisions if the team fails to grow. when should i expect fox and wemby to do sexy ball? is it mitche's fault they can't run the most basic basketball play? This is what pissed me off, we were sold a product. is this the playoffs strategy ? run no offense and then whip out something in an elimination game? that would be balsy mitch.

But i seriously wonder if any coach could make these players work. You don't fire mitch until you know what you have.

I think the OP turned out to be more prescient in his prediction than I thought when he first wrote it and started this thread. After a team meeting and a rough first half against the Rockets—what those hack ESPN guys call “getting their lick back”—I noticed the associate head coach acting more like a head coach than an associate on the sidelines. Players kept looking to him repeatedly as he called defensive sets, and I believe even some offensive ones, stepping off the bench, putting his feet on the boards, and getting almost right up in front of Mitch.
