With our net rating, I don’t see that at all. We’re just too high in oRtg and too ‘low’ in dRtg for that to happen.
 
OP might onto something. If turns out he is holding back the team-- and there are signs of him being a godawful game manager-- it is the logical move but won't happen before a playoffs meltdown similar to the ones we have been witnessing in multiple games last month
 
The reality of the Sweeny Sitch, is he it is more likely to end up being hired by whomever fires a coach this offseason. It's equally as likely that he will be going back to Dallas than taking over for Mitch, who is bulletproof under the protection of El Jefe.


We're just kind of royally fucked and stuck with this guy Let's hope he gets hit on his noggin and comes down with some kind of Amnesia that makes him a better coach.

At least that's the way I've seen it work like that in sitcoms and movies. I'm not claiming to be a doctor here. although this is a message board and I may as well pretend to be some kind of expert in coaching or the interpretation of basketball statistics like everybody else here.

I don't see FO giving up on Mitch before the end of next season unless he pisses somehow Wemby off or gets exposed for some dirty staff. They will give him plenty of time to learn.

The win/loss record is certainly unexpected but if you’re watching every game, he’s definitely a rookie learning on the job. He needs to get a lot better at rotations, managing minutes, and getting these guys to run an offense that doesn’t often just look like hero ball.
 
Remember Pop got weaker the shorter the time frame

GOAT organization builder. Arguable GOAT tanker. Flawed roster construction. Questionable at times rotations. Regular ownage by other coaches in series. Nonexistent ingame adjustments ..... then individual play calls WOOF

Ime and Monty actually have real NBA experience as players, and that usually translates to coaching. Mitch, on the other hand, has nothing to offer. Hence the DEI label.

You should ask yourself why you feel compelled to complain so much. I can understand constructive compliments and even somewhat regular criticism but you have to be one of the most miserable people here.

It always seems to be some degree of political connotation with it.

I can’t imagine how much you’ve completely lost yourself as a result.

You will and should retain your right to make the dumbest most idiotic posts ever but you should at least make an effort to not be such a miserable person.

Mitch is a rookie coach. Yeah he ain't perfect and has his head in his ass a lot but you can't expect him to just be elite right out of the gate. It's going to take some time and growing pains. He needs to get some playoff seasoning under his belt before we can truly start judging him. I think next season we can start complaining if nothing has changed but so far it's hard to not see his performance as positive considering our record this year vs the last few

He's been with the team for 7 years now and had most of the last season to figure the basiscs out.
Playing third stringers and losing momentum while up double digits in the first half has nothing to do with experience, it's just idiotic.

And who was coaching the team last year?

Here's the reality. He isn't going anywhere after this season. Soonest they will make a change is after next season if he can't figure it out, and it'll be with two painful winnable playoff series being booked along the way.

The lineups in fucking JAN on a team that hasnt' even been together a year with major components of the core? Those lineups are more important than the actual win loss record? That seems like a pretty stupid way to judge a rookie head coach with a very young team who is pretty objectively out performing all preseason expectations but you do you.

Its almost like he's using games in JANUARY to develop the bench and/or find out what he has at the end of the bench or something! Fire him now, I guess?

Flagg 34mpg.
Knueppel 32mpg.
Harper - yet to play more than 30 minutes in a game.

He's Mitch's biggest victim.
Castle can make all the mistakes he wants without the ball being taken away from him, Harper gets benched as soon as he fucks up a couple of possessions.
Castle played at least 26 minutes in every game that wasn't a 30 point blowout and the game when he got injured.
Harper has 4 games with 26 or more minutes.

Obviously it would've been difficult to play Harper last night since Amen is too big for him, but the moment of frustration will come real soon considering...
