Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 3: Blazers vs Spurs (1-1) (Fri 04/26/2026) [9:30 CDT]

100% agree that Mitch coached well in the 2nd half. His adjustment to using CB as the backup/small ball center (as a reaction to VW's injury) is honestly an underrated adjustment as well. He's relying on multiple rookies to make shit happen, something Pop would have NEVER done.

Props are called for. Let's hope he continues his out of the box thinking.
I’m a pop apologist but you’re 100% right. Pop wouldn’t have done that. It was a well coached game and CB is really the unsung hero here. He really stepped up.

Keldon and Devin were fine. Why the fuck do you think they are embarassing? Both were good on D, played solid minutes and hit some big shots.

Not sure what y'all expact.
For the 6th man of the year not to shit the bed on offense until somebody who isn't old enough to drink steps in and does his job for him

I think Devin did well, but Keldon not being able to get a single one of his trademark bully ball drives to drop is beyond frustrating.

IMO the best adjustment was CB bringing the ball up because they knew Robert Williams wouldn’t try to be an aggressive onball defender. This caused the entire Portland defense to become stagnant. Great coaching call by Mitch.
Great coaching indeed. Fake fans earlier wanted to trade Mitch and Fox

Did you watch the game, all his shots were fine and he got some tough bounces. Y'all are fucking ridiculous.

Also why would that be Keldon's job over Harper? Do you for some reason think that Harper is worse at offense than Keldon because that is and has not been the case for the last several months if ever.

I really didn't understand the Castle questioning in the first half, empty stats blah blah...

They've been putting fucking Clingan and Robert Williams on him, he has to be aggressive. I trust this mfer in big games more than anybody besides the Alien tbh. Dude is a dawg.

My fav part about smaller forums like this is the lack of anonymity that you see in places like Reddit and shit, esp in these types of days. Seeing everybody (myself included) completely meltdown at the start of the third and now seeing us all singing kumbaya just cuz a 20 year old rookie went ballistic… can’t put a price on that :st-lol:

Dyaln easily my fav Spur already, what a guy. Castle and CB with great contributions too. I guess I have to give some props to the coaching staff for at least not fucking up what was working. Fox legit does worry me though, I thought maybe the Portland guards were just an issue for us, but now both Castle and Dylan have broken out against them and Fox still looks ineffective. Still think we need him if we’ll make it far this year.

Props to the boys for pulling this out but you’ll have to excuse me for never wanting to have to do it again… pls Wemby come back Sunday.

GSG

Carter was great too tbh
It is so obvious who the winners/playoffs risers on the roster and who are not. You just hate how predictable this shit can be. Like. I want to be pleasantly surprised by Fox; i have zero interest in rooting against him, but so far the script hasn't been flipped.

Castle O efficiency is soo good when he is not initiating the O and he is playing with in Teams O..

Like Catch and shoot player.

It will increase his defensive efficiency as well.

I get that Harper was awesome and Fox was less than awesome but in the playoffs different players have big games. Fox can still have an important big game that helps us even if Harper is the future.

Mitch may have been a bigger problem than Fox tonight, honestly, and Harper erased that from the conversation.
Well Fox is overdue. Hoping that game comes soon.

I was more worried in the previous games. In this game the shots were fine unlike the previous two, he had some pop out or just not fall. He spent a fair amount of time on Deni and Deni shot pretty fucking awful because of Keldon's D (and others). I think they are all figuring it out on the fly and for Castle and Harper it happened faster tonight. I thought Keldon was a positive force tonight and looked more comfortable picking his spots.

I think they proved that they do need a crutch. It's Dylan Harper :st-lol:

Embarrassing games from Keldon and Devin. :st-lol:

I'm not even got to count barnes he spent his whole career doing this. Or...not doing this. Plus I don't even think he played 9 minutes.

I don't think Vassell has been that bad at all. Dude's shown consistent grit getting deflections and fighting for rebounds. During the first half, he was pretty much the only guy doing that. In the second half, other players started helping, and it made all the difference. While it would have been ideal if he'd stepped up as the second option with Wemby out, this was a game where the other guards combined for 78 of the team's 120 points. I'm not mad that he was able to find his impact elsewhere.

Keldon not stepping up is more concerning, because he can break defenses when he's scoring well. Portland has good size on the wings, and I think that's making them a bad match-up for him. Johnson is the fourth piece of the driving puzzle along with the point guards. The team misses Johnson's vertical pressure more than it misses Vassell scoring 20 points.

I agree. His -20 was cause he was on the court with players who's balls shriveled up. Without him keeping us afloat until big dick dylan arrived this would have been a blowout.

Yeah but Dylan should have earned our trust just as much too, after he refused to get in Scoot’s head games.
