Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 3: Blazers vs Spurs (1-1) (Fri 04/26/2026) [9:30 CDT]

All things considered down by 6 at halftime is not that bad. Now the Spurs just have to put some pressure on the Blazers as they are playing way to free and no pressure it seems.

Please Fox show up! Castle did his part in the 1st half.

We’re lucky we’re not down 16 but for these playoffs, the team is nothing without Wemby. No real #2 guy to count on.
Steph can score points, but he gives lot of momentum as well to opposing teams.

He has to be clever when to take shots and when to pass. Unfortunately with him its always taking shots.

Towards the end of the season, I was starting to get a little worried about the Blazers for two reasons 1) they have guys who can get hot from 3 and 2) they offensive rebound. But @spurraider21 convinced me they weren’t any good and then we beat them pretty easily without Wemby… I hate that my first instinct was more correct
Tbf, Scoot had been out for a while and came back playing like a star. If the dude is now ready to play like the 3rd pick Portland suddenly looks like a dangerous team.

I saw some youtuber saying that Portland new owner is cheapskate and did not want to spend $ to send Scouts to Tpup vs Denver series for potential 2nd round matchup.

Look like he should start sending his Scouts now

Biggest nugget of the game clingan picking fouls.

Had he not picked 2 fouls, we might be in better position.. TBH

Clutch player of the year!!
Lost (key word— lost) to the warriors in 7!!!
Rest of the team around him besides castle has been dog shit, where’s keldon? Where’s Barnes? Bryant looks like crap. Too many passengers. We have 3 bigs wasting on the bench because the coach/staff sees them as unplayable meanwhile we are playing small out there

The most dejecting thing is that the blazers don’t look good
The Blazers are busting their ass and you can't have two guys who won't shoot. Kornet is good on lobs but his and CB's defenders just drop off and clog things up. Kornet has the capability to shoot and Bryant needed time in Austin earlier in the year to get massive reps at shooting and basketball in general and gain confidence in that situation.

I usually agree with you 100%. But my eye test I feel different. I feel nobody else has stepped up and Fox needs to take control. I want him to. Not getting anything from KJ, Vassell, Barnes and Harper is killing us.
It looks good because early on Castle was making shots… but he’s not doing this as part of the offense, he’s playing ISO ball and he’s freezing out the rest of the team, including Fox. How is Fox supposed to “take control” if the ball never moves out of Castle’s hands? That’s on Mitch to correct.

It’s halftime and Castle is a -12 with 2 assists and 3 TOV. Meanwhile, Fox is a -3 with 4 assists to 1 TOV.

The success of our team is fully dependent on team ball with a high AST%, not ISO ball.

I don’t understand who is stopping Martez? Jrue or Deni should not lock him down. He’s playing incredibly passive instead of putting his imprint on the game.

Debi is having a relatively poor game and Jrue fucking Holiday is outplaying our “second best player.” This is fucking unacceptable for the “seasoned vet.” If Martez has to defer to Steph to right the ship, then Martez has got to go. You’re getting paid a salary to deliver in line with expectations. These are the expectations.

Nash and Blake seeing exactly this.

Only difference they drive to basket and find open receivers waiting at 3 point line.

We drive to basket and try to ram through their defenders.

What the fuck are we coaching?
Most likely “deer in the headlights” look from coaches on down!!! The front office has some work to do this next offseason!!!

Sorry fellas but I think that it's almost a wrap. Portland just wants this more. Spurs don't look locked in at all
so far feels like portland wants it more with rebounding and making big shots while our guys are shrinking under pressure.
