Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 3: Blazers vs Spurs (1-1) (Fri 04/26/2026) [9:30 CDT]

I am expecting game 5 to be the earliest game he can returns tbh. Don't forget this is the Spurs medical staff....the most conservative medical staff ever

Assuming he’s not cleared for game 3, can Wemby even travel? In other words, if he misses game 3, does that mean he misses game 4 too?
Good question. With the short turnaround between game 3 and 4, if he's not allowed to travel, would likely mean he could be out for both. I never thought of that since both those games are on the road.

Tbh, I don't think playing on the road is a disadvantage for our team.
We have the second best road record in the league and have beaten every West team on the road at least once, except the Timberwolves.
Game 3 is going to be tough with it rocking in Portland.

But might do them some good to get away from the hype and celebrating in SA and just focus on basketball tbh.

Wemby should rest until game 5 tbh. If we can't beat the Blazers without him then we weren't title contenders to begin with.
I don't care about title contetion anymore. Right now, I just want to do whatever it takes to get to round 2. I'll be ecstatic if they can just get to the second round and I'll call that a successful season regardless of what happens. I just do not want to get embarrassed in round one. I don't believe that will help the team. Digging deep, fighting your way out of it and doing whatever it takes to get to round two will help the team in the long run way more IMO.

Certainly a possibility and with what we have on this team if they can’t get a split out in Portland, really shame on all of them. We have enough to do that.

It really depends on Fox and Harper. Harper I believe can impact the series more than Castle if his thumb is not bothering him.

The road record doesn't mean as much in the playoffs. Portland fans are going to be hyped. It's going to be a completely different atmosphere in there than a regular season road game.

For whatever reason, I have more faith in Harper. He's a better shooter IMO and that is probably why I have more faith in him. I don't know how bad that thumb injury is, as like with Steph's knee, the team won't say anything during the playoffs.

Basically, it boils down to this, Portland are a big team and the Spurs don't have any bigs. How are they going to counter this?

They're not that big.
It's just that they have two legit centers available while the Spurs have only one.
We beat them by shooting better than 7-24 from 3pt, especially during those small lineup minutes.

We are really missing an irritant on this team. Someone who gets under the skin of the other team. That gives a shove here and there. An enforcer. We miss Sochan to fill this role. Even for 12 mins off the bench. Put 3 hard fouls on Deni and Scoot

This should be the De'Aaron Fox game. So far this season, whenever Wemby's been out for a couple games or more, Fox usually steps up, scales his usage way up, and produces like a top tier point guard. I'll give him a mulligan for the last game, but these two games will go a long way to telling us who he really is as a player.

anyone entered concussion protocol recently and got cleared in the min time? (i.e. best case scenario)

cant believe how hard Vic hit his face on the floor, dont think ive ever seen that happen before in the nba, going so hard at the rim and out of control + Jrue pulling the chair and Wemby trying to pass at the last second is what did it

man game 2 sucked, so unfortunate

I wouldn’t bank on Victor playing in the series at all. Even less so if we drop both in Portland, at which point there might not be a very long series to begin with

Considering wemby got hurt with nine minutes to go in the second quarter with us down by two at the time and how the next 2 1/2 quarters played out from there. It’s abundantly clear we are capable of winning. Taking two of the three regular season games is another indicator of this.

We are going to have to ask a lot of Luke in this series. He’s going to have to play more minutes than he’s used to and against a very physical center in Clingan. Fortunately, he’s not a huge scoring threat. It’s just going to be a matter of keeping him at bay on the boards.

We are also going to have to lean on Carter Bryant more than we may have wanted to. I just hope the minutes he has to play against Clingan are minimal.

And at least one of cast or fox is going to have to figure something out. Jullian and Devin should be getting their shots off of other players. The more we lean on the Vassell to try to create buckets and not just taking clean looks due to advantages caused by other players, the more trouble we are going to be in.
