Had a nice return to San Antonio with my parents, wife, brother and nephews. Went to a Spurs game one night, next day saw all of the new Alamo stuff, had some margs, then went back to get my car to find that it had been towed 2 minutes after my 4-hour session expired from a mostly empty lot near Rivercenter.

Anyone else have issues with this? I don't even care about the money, just the principle.

I get that 2 minutes late is still late, but it's pretty fucked up in a city that relies on tourism. For a lot of people, $240 is substantial. Looks like I'm not the first to complain to the media about it.

Any ideas for how to exact revenge? (in a non-criminal way, of course.) I have free time, resources, and a possibility unhealthy fixation when it comes to antagonizing assholes, and I kinda want to make these predators' lives hell for a while.

Oh and if you work for VMS, Creswell's Wrecker Service, or any company that employs similar practices to make money, you're a piece of shit and you should get another job. 🙂

on the topic of ranting about parking, can somebody explain to me why about 20% of the population has a pathological urge to always back into parking spots? its annoying af and slows the lot down. are you getaway drivers who need a fast escape? do you like having access to your trunk restricted? make it make sense!

like yeah if its an empty lot and can you basically drive thru one parking spot and wind up in a "backed up" position so you can leave more easily later, sure... but backing into a spot in a congested lot just slows traffic and makes it more likely something will go wrong while parking

People who drive large trucks claim it is easier to back in and pull out rather than pull in and back out, but I'm not quite sure how it would be any more difficult personally. Never driven a large truck though

this is actually sensible. you have a tighter turn radius in the back of the vehicle than the front. this is why people tend to have to back in when parallel parking in a tight spot. and if you are driving a large pickup, this can be a legitimate concern in a parking lot.

but i see people doing it in sedans and tiny subcompact SUVs. just seems like unnecessary hassle

You might go insane if you visit Hawaii. Not backing into your spot is a sure fire way to tell who is a tourist

its OSHA rules in many job sites. cars with poor rear views suck at backing out , camera's help out though, so it;s exploded since then. They claim its safer because backing out is a source of many accidents.

For me though, iam much more patient starting to drive than when i am in full aggro traffic warrior mindset.

And the most unforgivable thing: backing up drivers dont have a consensus signal for backing up. They pull over to the right (opposite their desired spot) and stop, and THEN they might check if its safe to back up. If you are behind them they might wave you past or they might just sit there forever. They might use a turn signal. you just can't assume they wont start backing into you. it will happen.

Having recently been given the monstrosity that is a Ford F150 as a loaner while my car was getting repaired, I can confirm that it is objectively easier to back into a parking spot.

Anyway prayers out for the many MLK marchers today who are probably going to have to visit the Creswell impound.
