NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

Same shit tomorrow too - CLE/DET play at 6 PM CST and LA/OKC play at 7:30 CST. Maybe I'm just dumb but I really don't see why they would ever have games overlap once you move past the 1st round.
Back in the day, they would have the playoffs start on a Friday, and TNT and TBS would each have a double header and they would stagger them, and you could switch back and forth. It was great. The overload of playoff basketball all of a sudden on a Friday was so much fun.

But I don't remember them ever doing that after the first round. Like you said, it makes no sense at all.

It's amazing to me that the Pistons extended their coach for winning a seven game series against an eight seed and Orlando is blowing up their team for losing a seven game series to a one seed.
Orlando has had three consecutive first round exits. They made a pretty notable "win-now" type move by trading for Desmond Bane + their younger core was another year older and they still were only able to muster 45 wins and were one loss away from not even getting into the playoffs.

Not putting 100% of the blame on Mosley, but it shouldn't come as a big surprise.

You should be able to make a killing betting against the Lakers every game then… since their fans are so powerful they artificially move the line towards them.

Absolutely brilliant strategy, make sure to update us when you’re a billionaire.

Can’t believe bettors haven’t discovered this completely fool proof strategy yet.
Clearly, you don't understand how Vegas works. They move the line so that they make money no matter what. That's why the lines move. It doesn't have anything to do with who's the better team. It doesn't have anything to do with who's going to win. Has to do with balancing out the bets. Sorry you don't understand that. Sorry you keep doubling and tripling down on stupid, but that's how it works.

Yeah, that makes more sense now that you explain it. I hadn't thought about it that way. It just felt like both outcomes were kind of knee jerk. Orlando for sure makes more sense, but I'm not sure why anybody would feel great about what the Pistons have done in the first round.

Clearly, you don’t understand your ass from your elbows, but… I’m glad you’ve finally come around to what I said to start with. If I’m doubling and tripling down on stupid… only for you to basically repeat what I said… what does that make you? I will say one thing, I admire the authenticity of your ignorance.

Lines don’t move because one team has more “fans” than an other… Vegas sets the lines where they estimate they’ll have equal action on both sides so that they balance each other out and the house just wins on the vig… but “fans” aren’t the heavy source of action, real betters (who try their best to not make stupid bets) are.
But what seems to be beyond your limited brain capacity, is that Vegas doesn’t care about balancing out the number of bets… it cares about the dollars on each side. So this influx of Lakers fan in the “public betting” market you claim is moving the line towards the Lakers would create a massive arbitrage opportunity for sharp bettors to just wait for the “fans” to bid up the line towards the Lakers and then take a massive position at the last minute on the other side and lock in favorable odds/spreads (and create a dollar imbalance in the process, putting the house at risk). Of course, this doesn’t happen, because public markets and sports books are smarter than your child-covered-in-his-own-feces grasp of the situation.

I realize this complex thinking might be too much for your 3rd grade education to comprehend as you sip a beer through a straw… so let me just summarize it for you in a way you might understand: you’re a dumbass.

Now, go home and get your shine box.

I understand you better now… obvious things only make sense to you after someone explains it. Will make a point to talk to you like a developmentally challenged 9 year old going forward.

This clarifies a lot.

Been said ad nauseum on the overlapping. When did this shit start? Did we just not notice it in the past yrs since we werent in the playoffs tbh?

After the 1st round? There hasn't been overlapping in recent memory. They seem to be wanting to position the Knicks game in the ideal east coast prime time slot.

I would be prefer to watch both games back to back unspoiled and I can't even do that as they insist on putting the score of other ongoing games in the top corner and I can't possibly train myself not to look. It's 2026, not 1996; I can check the score of other games any time I damn well please on any device, I don't need other scores on screen at all times.

Weird. Wouldve loved to watch these games. Summer vacations as a kid was a joy as it overlapped with the playoffs.

Why did the commentators say that they cant intentionally foul Robinson now that it’s less than 2 mins in the qtr? Am I missing something?

You're not excited to see Austin Reaves and the Lakers get swept by the Thunder while Luka looks on from the bench?
I will hate watch the Lakers-Thunder series. I have always hated the Lakers and their fanbase and will definitely enjoy it if OKC sweeps them or takes them out in 5 granted if the Lakers upset the Thunder it would benefit the Spurs.

I understand you better now. You're stupid as shit and you carry a grudge when people explain things to you because you're a fucking dumbass. 😂

Tl;dr

I thought this game 1 would be a blowout and the rest of the series would be pretty good.
