NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

I knew the Timberwolves wanted it more, but just didn't think they had the shot creation to finish the job. Think this goes down as the GOAT win in their franchise history, edging game 7 on the road vs Nuggets in '24. Incredibly impressive.

The agenda pushers are already attempting to soften the blow, but a massive "legacy" hit to one of my favorites, Jokic. Closest analog in this era is Antetokounmpo, who's been getting skewered for his lack of playoff success the past half decade despite having worse teams with more injuries and not having anything to this degree on his resume.
if giannis didn't purposefully injure kyrie he'd have zero rings

wonder how much less $$ he could conceivably take. maybe he'd be less injury prone in a lesser role, denver asks him to do a ton
None, he's under contract for the next 3 seasons (age 31-34) and his injury history is worrisome. You probably need to send Vassell+ out for salary matching anyway.

Pistons offense is brutal. Everything's a struggle on that end. And their defense has regressed considerably in this series.

Edit*: Already down 22 to the Magic. This one's over tbh.

Getting HCA and being a top 2 seed means less these days when we’ve been seeing 1 and 2 seeds in the 1st round flame out more consistently the last few years. Use to be an uncommon thing.

Load management tbh, more established stars rest in the RS. Giving younger, less established teams chance for a higher seed.

Goes inversely in the playoffs

Detroit is going through what we had gone through in recent years as far as the stagnant offense. It's just very difficult to sustain good offense when you have multiple non-shooters on the floor. Duren and Ausar cannot shoot. Even though Cade can shoot some, he is by far at his best when he is getting downhill, but that is made difficult when the cast cant space the floor. we went through this when we would play combinations including Sochan, Collins (when his shot disappeared), Tre Jones, Keldon, Wesley, Castle (last year), etc.

duncan robinson is a consistent shooter but a fairly limited player overall. all it took was a poor shooting series from Tobias Harris and their entire offense collapsed (harris is 4/24 from 3 this series)

that and Duren just came up really small after an awesome regular season where he basically became a 20/10 guy with good defense. barely averaging 10/8 this series

still, they are making a game of it now. 16-2 run and just a 10 point game

Would yall give back the hawks picks for ZR? All that is left is this years swap and next years unprotected pick
With all the interesting kids in our range going back school, I may even give 20 this year.

to be fair, the 7/8 seeds in the east are not your "typical" low seeds. philly has been predictably banged up all year and suddenly have all their guys healthy. this version of philly is probably a top 3-4 seed in the east, and boston's bench suddenly hasnt been so effective

and orlando... nobody had them finishing this low as an 8th seed, but a big part of the reason they are there is Franz Wagner missing so much of the year. it doenst excuse all their shitty play, but getting him back just in time for the playoffs did make them much better than a typical 8 seed. still, he hasnt played since game 4, so detroit has no business losing

also, i really want want to see game 7's of Pistons/Magic or Cavs/Raptors. please let those wrap up tonight

on the other hand, game 7's for Philly/Boston and Lakers/Rockets would be good TV
